I was Looking back on Saban’s star studded classes through the years. There’s a bunch of guys that transferred out, but I was super excited for at the time. No flame towards them- it just helps put the success of other guys into perspective.
1) Star Jackson- so pumped when we landed him
2) Phillip Sims
3) BJ Emmons
4) BJ Scott
5) Tana Patrick
6) Richie Petitbon
7) Chris Black
8) David Cornwell
9) Dee Liner (best name)
10) vandarius cowen
Honorable mention: Parker McLeod lol

Drawing a blank. There was a receiver out of Northport or Tuscaloosa that signed for like three years in a row and never qualified. Anybody remember? Late 90’s or early 00’s.

I thought he was a RB? First name was Tyrus I think ?

Tyren Jones and BJ Emmons are two RBs I thought would be beasts for us.
Tyren couldn't lay off the weed and I don't know what Emmons' deal was. He didn't do anything at FAU, either.

Who can forget Tyler Love, the 5-star offensive lineman who never once saw the field? He might be the biggest overall bust of the Saban Era when you factor in how highly he was rated.

Watched him run track in the state meet his senior year after he had signed with BAMA and I was amazed at his size and speed. He ran the 200 and the anchor leg of the 4x100 relay. Dude could FLY!!!!
PSA- along with coaching football, basketball, and baseball during my 27+ years, I also coached track, soccer, and tennis. A jack of all trades I guess!

Tyler Love and BJ Scott were two rare 5 star misses for the GOAT.
Star Jackson's star burned out very quickly.
It's an inexact science... even for the great recruiters. The key is to bring in enough studs that a few duds sneaking in doesn't kill you.

We didn't miss on BJ Scott.
If anything, he was the catalyst for our current run.
Him committing signaled we were legit and other recruits (Julio) took notice.

From what I recall, he stayed hurt once he stepped on campus. I believe it was a shoulder/neck injury that spelled his doom.
