What did my wife get me for Christmas?
Rules-
-Quality guesses get ignored
-Non-quality guesses get verbally abused by the puzzler
-Hints can be dropped by the puzzler at their own discretion
-Winner makes new puzzle or chooses someone else to, but not deeprig9 this time.
-Winner may amend rules to fit their own puzzle more appropriately

Seems too simple, but "fishing rod"... assuming more detailed response needed here, as I can't make sense of all clues just yet.

Well, Castable means either bait or a rod and reel. Peeling out drag means a reel.

Reverse castable - that could be spells.
Seeing what your eyes can't - Lovecraft talked about that a lot.
