If he's been running routes in shells before now, and getting into rhythm and staying sharp i could see this happening, but if this is his first week of catching passes its hard to imagine he'd be ready.

Man it'd be great if he were though. See this offense just once more with two first rounders at wr, and an all timer at rb & qb. For the title. Sign me up.

Just the rumor on the other board..

Reliable sources saying he will practice with intention to play

So, a lot of people have been analyzing how he has been walking on the sidelines, pregame videos, etc. and they've been saying, "He's still got a limp, no way he's going to play." Well, I saw a comment on a Reddit post that mentioned that Waddle has always walked like that (it's a swagger, not a limp).

So I found some video of him running drills his Freshman year, and IMO, it doesn't look too different from how he's been walking post-injury. He kinda waddles (no pun intended) back and forth: LINK

But... I don’t see any reason to trot him out at practice this week if Saban doesn’t think he’s close enough to make an evaluation.

He is definitely close enough for an evaluation - i just feel like it may have been kept under a tighter lip if we felt like he was "probable" to put in in Fantasy terms.

ya

According to my gut feeling inferences (never wrong on those) based on limited information as correlated with the recovery time and the injury, it doesn't seem likely that Waddle is a "probable" at this point in time is all I was really getting at.

Waddle is going to play. You could tell by how he was acting during the Florida and Notre Dame game that he was going to be back. He’s had that little smirk on the sidelines. He knows it, and we all know it. The team knows it, and Ohio State knows it. It’s a completely different offense with Waddle.

I don't know that those few hours between when reporters found out yesterday and reporters would have seen today make any difference.

I think it's pretty simple - Waddle has been coming along nicely. He's good to go for practice now. Barring setbacks and how he feels, he'll play, as I'm sure he'd love to do. I suspect they even took it slow knowing they didn't need him for ND.

I don't think announcing his return as a distraction is a game Saban was playing. Keeping it quiet until his actual return probably was calculated. Now OSU's secondary is shitting their pants. Their coaches have to re-examine the game plan they spent the last several days making. And they have to do it just as they were ready to implement it in practice.

To add to the last minute changes to their game plan and short implementation period, they will be watching film from two months ago at best. The team has come a long way since the first month of the season and were really getting going when Waddle got injured.

I’m just excited at the possibility of seeing Waddle and Smitty running open all over the same field, one last time. Not to mention what that would do for Najee and the rest of the offense.

I hope you are correct, I am just more cautious on a 10 week turnaround to full contact, after broken ankle requiring surgery.

Nick Saban told Chris Low that Waddle is cleared to play, just needs to see how he practices this week..

quote:

"He's been running, but we need to see him in practice," Saban told ESPN. "Our medical people will evaluate him as the week goes on and make a decision from there. He wants to play and has been working hard to get back."

Waddle medically cleared and it's up to him whether he goes? I like those odds!
