By having a "selection" rather than a clearly delineated qualification, there is no way to ever guarantee that the best team, or even any of the four best, gets in. If they want to have a serious playoff, then all of college football needs to be reorganized: for a four team playoff, all D1 programs go into four conferences, and the 4 champs play; or do it with 8 teams and 8 conferences. Win and you're in. No selections; no could'a, would'a, should'a; no "my one loss is better than your one loss"; no nothing.

So you cant give me an example of when the best 2 teams are not in the playoff.
