Wish we played them more often and it will be interesting in week 1...

Their 2021 team won't look much like this 2020 team.

I’m not. Those two sophomore ends they have will eat Truss alive.

we should be equal to or better than them talent wise at every matchup, AND we will come in with a better/more experienced QB

we SHOULD be able to win the game and we will likely be favored

what is the over under on how many of our fans will walk in worried about a 1st game letdown like we became so accustomed to under Richt?

that game will tell us a lot about Coach Smart

Richt was 12-3 in openers but there certainly was some early season games that sidetracked the season...specifically against SC.

My worries against Clemson dont have much to do with CMR's early season disappointments.

I’m not sure that Truss gets the starting job next year.

Granted, that likely means we have a true freshman starting at LT.

No way truss is starting next year. I'd be stunned if it's not jones

They are losing a lot of players. Whatever team they put out there will be less experienced, but will be good athletes. Similar to us, but we do bring back experience at key spots.

sure, but most of those 12 were true season opener cupcakes

it did FEEL like we lost MOST of the "big time" season openers

I know that is not 100% true, but towards the end we just did not look ready for real competition in game 1 far too often (cough, Boise)

It is the coaching staffs responsibility to have contingencies. Our inside linebacker against Boise was jeremy sulek. Think about that. The defense was fine until Ogletrees injury. Then they slanted us to death and bounced runs outside.

Edit to add: we like to say that our walkons should be better than G5 starters. But let's be real. Talent, experience. Coaching.

That boise team was favored, ranked higher, and ended the year in the top 5 I believe. They were simply a better team than we were. People don't care half as much about that game if the helmets said michigan or something instead of boise and we wore normal jerseys.

02 Clemson
03 Clemson
05 boise
07 oklahoma state
14 Clemson

All big time openers that we won.

I'm not sure either but they'll still eat up whoever we put out there since they'll be brand new to starting. Unless we put Salyer out there maybe but even McClendon I'm not sure can handle their rush.

I'm not too sure about that, Their freshman quarterback is legit, he did good against Notre Dame when he replaced Trevor Lawrence the first time they played.

Anyone else notice Cincinnati had 8 seniors starting on defense including 4 RS's ?

It certainly makes a difference even when a facing a G5 team especially when we're shuffling our OL
