Hearing that Ensminger will likely retire, may return to being a position coach

From pretty reliable sauces.
Unlike the Linehan, Pelini, Johnson, etc. firings, this seems to be Ensminger's decision.
Not very surprising since Ensminger never really wanted to be OC in the first place, supposedly he's leaning more toward retiring than staying on as a position coach.
Russ Callaway is the common name being thrown as a replacement for Scott Linehan and maybe even as OC if O cant find anyone he likes better.
Defensive replacement rumors are Bo Davis at defensive line coach to replace Bill Johnson and the top of O's DC replacement list seems to be Cincinnati defensive coordinator Marcus Freeman.

Is this an improvement if it happens how you think it will?

Did Marcus Freeman play at LSU or coach with Orgeron before? If not, don't count on it Tiggers ...

Who knows, changes had to be made though.

There are maybe 1 or 2 people on the entire LSU staff who have coached with Orgeron before so this statement makes no sense...

Except that Ogre is a dead duck, and the NCAA is hanging around your campus. No up and coming coach is signing on for that. Course you could lie to them like you do everyone else
That's always an option ;). Good morning!

Has Pelini actually parted ways with LSU? All I've heard are reliable sources say...

Ensminger was a good, solid playcaller and he has the LSU quarterback room in possibly the best position its ever been in. Again, this isn't a performance based firing, Ensminger just doesn't want the pressure of being the offensive coordinator at a place like LSU.
Just me guessing but I don't necessarily believe Ensminger ever needed Brady to call third down and redzone plays, I think that was just a way to bring Brady in and possibly set him up as the future OC since he had no prior offensive coaching experience.
I believe the same was offered to Linehan, both as a way to bring him in and as a way to possibly "recapture the magic." It sounded good in theory but it obviously didn't work out. Speculation is that Ensminger took over third downs and red zone calls toward the end of the season.

Supposedly they're waiting till the new contract year to soften the buyout blow.
Pretty much everyone who has stated it is pretty reliable though.

More like amusement. I'm enjoying the squirming from those that spend a lot of money for LSU. They cannot fire Orgeron, so they are just basically replacing the entire staff as a band aid. Dumb IMO, because LSU was showing a little bit of improvement at the end. Now you get to start all over again - on both sides of the ball. When has that ever worked?
I told you, but you didn't want to hear it. Even the offensive staff. which sets LSU back another two years or so until you can think about firing Orgeron. Boosters are cursing his contract, and looking for loopholes
Meanwhile, every coach out there knows that Orgeron has been hung out to dry. It's very entertaining to watch

It really wasnt, they'd have got shellacked in both the Florida and Ole Miss games if they wouldn't have forced some timely turnovers.
Its clear you don't really know what you're talking about.

I read Chickens thread, but no one could validate any information.
I've had a gut full of reliable sources out Washington DC for the past 40 days. I didn't want those same folk corrupting football, if you know what I mean.

We will see. I'm enjoying posting on the Rant this week, twisting the knife a little, and waiting for the inevitable tears. No fanbase in CFB deserves what is coming more than the t-shirts of the swamp in LA
See you in a few hours

I personally would like ensminger to stay on staff to work with the QBs. I think he’s pretty good in that role.
He just lacks a certain feel for the game to get the offense in a good rhythm and lacks creativity as the play caller. Which in fairness to him, was a role he never wanted.

Yeah, I think everything is just rumors at this point.
They seem to like Freeman a lot, its remains to be seen who they'll actually get though.

That doesn't sound like retirement. It sounds like a demotion because Lsu's offense is ranked 80th per OFEI.
