Looks great against bad offenses, completely folds against a competent offense.

Lets be honest here.
Wouldn't this apply to a lot of DCs?

Yes but his lapses are far more severe than should be tolerated or accepted with bama's talent level.

Lets just look at Georgia this year.
Just before Florida, they limited Kentucky to 3 points.
Then Trask torched them for 470 and 4 TDs.
When a team has a grest QB, great receivers, and a good play caller like Mullen, they will score on just about anyone.

But what does he have to work with? 32 and 10 are upper class 5 stars, Harris and Lee are seasoned 4 stars. If they invent a 6 star and we get some grad transfer 6 stars, that's when I think you'll see our defense shine when we line up LBs on the boundary with scatbacks, and safeties with no help vs 84 and 1.

I think that Florida is the most dangerous offense in the country. They have no weaknesses. Play makers everywhere.

underwhelming OL and mediocre running game means you basically know they are passing every play. You can attack that with a well-designed pass rush from a well-trained DL/LB corps. Problem is our LB corps (Golding's position group) is not well-trained at all.

Combine that with playcalling that leaves our best pass defenders completely across the field from the opponent's best skill players, and you have a recipe for giving up 46 points in a dog shite performance.

Its hard to see on TV but when you go to the game you see how limited 94, 32, 3 and 9 are. Everyone else is a playmaker (barring when we subbed in 1 and 20) but that doughy softness in the middle is tough to work around. Those 4 guys are not instinctive for whatever reason and last night 14 and 28 also has a tendency to hold for a split second due to level of competition. Im hopeful we use 8 to spy sunshine.

I agree on that. We had several chances to put the game away but let them hang around with a chance to win. A new coordinator is needed. Hopefully Pruitt will come home and leave that dumpster fire in Tennessee.

DJ Dale should not be starting at all. Tim Smith is a better player pure and simple. I wish that Ray would get healthy for once. He could make a difference.

To be fair we've looked terrible against good offenses forever. What elite defense we had locked down an elite offense? We never do it. It sucks because other elite defenses have but we just always lose the matchup

2018 Clemson shut down bama's offense. Not yardage wise but they held us to 16 points.

P.S. I didn't expect to "shut down" UF. But holding them under 40 isn't a terribly big ask.

I guarantee these last 2 years we have given up more 3rd and 10+ than any team in the country

I said that we've done. That game pisses me off more than any other because yeah obviously we lost big. But that was our best offense ever at the time and we got locked down in our matchup against an elite defense. Can't comprehend it when every elite offense our good defenses played shredded us

Pretty accurate although I think 9 will be fine. 50 needs to play all the time. Other than that our DL is solid. 32 is guarding his knee but is incredibly good at football and getting people lined up. It doesn’t look like it, because he is playing injured.

Which Alabama defensive coordinator in the past 7 or so years hasn’t folded against good offenses? We’ve been a third and long nightmare for years.

They were so many late blitzes too. You know Trask to going to get the ball out quickly yet you want to put one or two guys that are several yards away from the LOS to pass rush?
