Just in the 21 class:

It's like we don't even try there anymore.

Texarkana is technically half in Texas, but it's basically as Arkansas as it gets.

Houston Nutt used to recruit pretty hard there and so did Bobby. He got Mallett and Kobi Hamilton from there.
But From the looks of it now, we don't even try anymore... And these kids are going to every school of about equal distance as Fayetteville BUT Arkansas.

From little tidbits I've read, it seems the current staff basically has no heavy hitter recruiting the area at all.

I'd say the SW Ark kids are heavily neglected by many recent staffs. I just dont know why that area doesn't get more attention. Hell, Camden has a big OLineman seemingly every other year and they end up going out of state. That's Shawn Andrews country. That area used to be a total lock and now it's seems just the opposite.

Mallett transfered in from Michigan, didn't he?

Agreed, doesn't make any sense to me that we would overlook Texarkana of all places.

Yes, Mallett transfered in from Michigan, but he went to Texas High, grew up a Hogs fan, and only went to Michigan because he didn't want to play for Nutt and that shite show and he knew he wouldn't be deviled properly as a QB under him.

I count him as a recruit, because Bobby probably had to go to Texaraka to seal the deal. Semantics aside, Bobby still got a lot of talent from there.

I think the last guy we were really recruiting hard from Texarkana was that kid who eventually went to Baylor. I don't even remember his name, but I think he was a big time safety. That was like 5-6 years ago.

Traylor was the area recruiter and none of these kids had any interest in Arkansas football after the Morris year and the state of the program.

Smith was a Texas lean early but we’ve seen how Herman has done.

OU hired a recruiter in Jamar Cain who will be Smith’s position coach.

Jackson picked LSU over A&M after the NC and he’s a A&M legacy.

Burris was injured and picked A&M over OU.

Martin we offered but he was down the list and we had Avant and Paul as commits since July 2nd.

Ever think it’s because we’ve absolutely sucked arse for 5 years and there’s 5-6 schools miles ahead of us within close proximity?

Should probably put someone on it, but we’ve sucked balls, I’m not surprised a bunch of 4 Stars aren’t banging at the doors.

Most the Texas kids around town have trucks.
Bunch of chargers.
Lifted boxes and bubbles too.

I think sw Arkansas is always neglected hell I can remember listening to the the buzz 2 years ago before the basketball state championships and they didn’t even know who derrion Ford was and predicted LR mills to blow magnolia out of the finals. The rest of the state basically forgets we exist down here but agim went to the hill and that wasn’t too long ago. Bottom line is like other have said you’ve got to win to get recruits attention. I can tell you from growing up in the area most Texarkana kids aren’t very loyal. To a high school or college it’s very much a pro type town most of them go to whoeve is winning. Lamichael James went to fricking Oregon for Christ sake. If we start winning we will get back in there. But we should try our damndest to make pleasant grove a pipeline that’s one of the closest powerhouse high schools to the university of Arkansas they always produce high end talent year in and year out

Is most of that talent coming from the Texas side/Texas High? If so I doubt we have as much of a hog fan/in-state lean on these kids as you think. Texas High loves kicking the shite out of the Razorbacks every year.

Speaking of Texarkana and Derrian Ford, Arkansas High's basketball coach was escorted out of Magnolia's gym tonight for double technicals and death staring down a referee multiple times.

He went out on the court for what was a ticky tack call, then a few plays later went on the court again and just stared at the same Ref and wouldn't move.
