When Clemson spanks the Tide in 2 weeks......

... there will be several reasons including better players, better schemes, better coaching staff etc. But the REAL reason will be the little known Forbes Magazine Cover jinx. We are all familiar with the Sports Illustrated jinx, but no head coach in history has appeared on the cover of Forbes prior to a game and won. Geaux Clemson Tigers!

The Gumps will say that it's b/c of the previous coaching staff and that it will just take a little time to weed out all the bad players. If they win, it be b/c the community and players have finally bought in to Saban's system and the process has begun. At least till their next loss.

Butch Davis gets 4 years, Spurrier gets 4 years...why does Saban get ZERO years to turn a program around?
Some of you are such infested rats...it takes time to turn a losing program around and Saban has his work cut out for him, he is on the right track in terms of recruiting, but it takes time for those guys to start winning games.
Get a life.

Oh the irony in a Gump fan telling another fan base to get a life!

Who says they get 4 years? Nobody is worried about Butch and UNC, it'll be tough to do there what he did at Da U, I think most agree that Darth Visor ain't what he used to be. Saban, though arrives to T-Town like a conquering hero and gets a boat load of money and all of a sudden Gumps like you are saying he's the Bear reincarnated and Bama's winning "Recruiting NC's"
and on their way back all the while he goes 7-6 with no real reason to believe '08 will be different, also if you're expecting him to get a free pass on an LSU MESSAGE BOARD, then you're fricking stupid.

Those guys are not making 32 million, and their fan base has not treated them as the second coming Christ, I mean Bear Bryant.

Because your Alabama! You are suppose to be the Daddy, big boy football program.. The expectations are different at the programs you mentioned... Your Alabama! Act like it! LOL!
Your paying top dollar to beat AU..
You are on the brink of being more like Ole Miss, than you are Alabama!..
Hope it works out for you and your in-State brethren.
LSU is your new Daddy, and you address LSU as "SIR LSU"...you got that boy?
Beat OLe MIss, Beat ULL...Roll Tide

As a resident of Birmingham, I am exposed to more Gumps than I care to be. But I have to laugh when a Bama fan tells anyone to get a life in reference to obsessing over a coach. Perhaps youve heard of "The Bear??? You know, the drunken cheat who died over 25 years ago! And if you are referring to LSU's obsession with Saban, need I mention Franchione? He is doing the radio broadcast for the Clemson/Bama game & this whole state is going crazy about that. Check out FindBomb sometime...

Hmm..let's see...let's look at Bama's past records:
2004: 6-6
2005: 10-2
2006: 7-6
2007: 7-6
A "losing program"???I think Davis and Spurrier came into programs with cupboards much more bare than at Bama. When Satan came to Bama, he inherited a pretty good program...don't play that "losing program" bullshite.
Better yet, keep drinking the Kool-Aid, buddy...

Never thought I'd see the day when Bama fans were making excuses for why their team sucks. I was always under the impression that they just reloaded. The chamber must of had a jam the few yrs.

At Alabama, Saban inherited a team that did not have losing seasons the previous 2 before he got there.
At LSU, Saban inherited a team that had 2 bad losing seasons and won the SEC Championship his second year.
I guess that means he has to win the SEC this year at Bama to tie what he did at LSU?
We all know Bama hired Saban because of what he did at LSU - expecting the same results.
Watching gumpland is going to be hilarious this year.

saben is hugn hefner, not a dildo but close.
I live in south florida and saben would have been a big time loser with the dolphins if he had stayed last year. he still would have had a job, but he would have left, he took qb culpepper and lost and r.williams was out to lunch and rb brown his no. 1 pick was injured. I think he is a semi fraud, lsu made saben. Do you remember his 1st year at LSU when we lost to uab, he ran screaming into the locker rm. to yell at his agent, why did you send me here, he is a fraud, LSU made him, LSU was/ is a semi-gold mine that was waiting to be tapped and he did it.

This will be a good game. Clemson's defense will be all over JPW. I'm guessing he's good for at least 2 interceptions during the game. I'm expecting a score in the 31 to 17 range in favor of Clemson. It should be close at the half. One of JPW's picks will be a 4th quarter pic.

So why does Les Miles not get credit for his champiosnhip? If Nick Saban does good in his 4th year at the Crapstone, will Mike Shula get all the credit for it?

I am not one to defend bammer...but.... I am sorry i don't get all this Clemson hype. Maybe they are better than I am giving them credit but I've never looked at them as a Top Tier put the fear of God in you program and I think they are coming into this season severely over rated.

What are you all going to say once Tommy Bowden gets outcoached and Tide are victorious on Saturday night?

I honestly don't think many of Shula's players will be left at that point. Based on the amount of Freshman and Sophs playing, he's getting the players he wants in. The DL and LB groups that Shula left just weren't SEC calibur.
Miles was left more talent but that doesn't take anything away from his championship. I would imagine the claims from other 2 loss teams and the pressure to change the BCS system due to a 2 loss team winning the championship does more to tarnish the championship than who recruited the players. Miles won a championship. Hard to argue with his performance.
