The kid is probably a fantastic athlete (Mathis). He just is not a QB at this level. He also obviously has entitlement issues based on his sideline behavior and his demeanor when given mop up duty late in a game. I understand everyone wants to play. But...do you get sullen and look like a bitch or do you work harder to try and earn it?

I wish him well wherever he goes. He will need to change positions unless he goes down to FCS.

I dont understand the ncaa eligibility issues. Reese tried to make a stink about how staying midseason was against his best interest. Maybe reese was right (because the ncaa rules are so fricked up). Maybe kirby told him to go ahead and jet now for his own interest (assuming he is last on depth chart behind Bennett and Beck).

I hope for good things for Mathis. I dont have a problem with Kirby bringing in talent and the talent sorting itself out.

It was a red flag to me when I saw that he was committed to 3 schools before us. I don't know much about his recruitment, but when kids hop around schools like that it makes me think they have maturity issues.

I noticed his sideline demeanor as well and it looked pretty poor. The Mathis story was such a debacle. He had the unfortunate health problem. The fans and media really rallied behind Mathis after his recovery. All the reports from fall camp were saying he was playing lights out. We thought maybe he would be the 2nd coming of Justin Fields. He should probably go to some mid-major or even D-IAA school if he wants any shot at playing.
