Hello everyone,
This is the Stats and Recordkeeping Office of the SECRant. We are charged with overseeing the Official Results and Statistics to be used on this Forum. In times of contention, we will turn to the members of the board for resolution. Today we call upon all of you to vote on the matter of whether, assuming cancellation occurs, LSU officially forfeits their 2020 meeting with Alabama. If said resolution passes, Alabama will move to 7-0 and LSU will drop to 2-4. Alabama’s record in the series will improve to 54-26-5 as well as 29-9-2 in Tiger Stadium.
Brief Facts Summary: Alabama and LSU were scheduled to play on November 14th, 2020. Early lines favored Alabama by over 20 points on most sportsbooks. On Monday November 9th, 2020, reports stated that the game was in jeopardy due to a Covid-19 outbreak on LSUs team. The outbreak is believed to have stemmed from a large Halloween party attended by multiple LSU players. The SEC was not notified of this outbreak during the team’s bye week. Coach Ed Oregeron originally stated that they were preparing as if the game would be played. However, 2 days later, “Coach O” would claim that they have spent the Alabama game week preparing for Arkansas as they knew the game would be postponed.
The SECRant Statistics and Recordkeeping Office calls upon all forum members to vote on this matter. If you believe, assuming cancellation occurs, that LSUs actions constitute a forfeiture of the Alabama game, please upvote this post. If not, please downvote. Voting will close on November 12th, 2020 at 12:00pm Central Time. We thank you for your cooperation.

What if I don't want to mail my ballot in?

I love to mess with LSU like any other Bama fan but I'd have to seriously say no. No matter what you think of the Covid thing, you have to be understanding if they can't field a team.

Who takes the forfeit in all the other Cancelled games
Georgia, A&M? Is it as simple as the home team of the cancelled game? What is the application of the forfeit for all the games around the SEC and nation cancelled this weekend
This will help decide the vote if we understand the logic and how it applies to the as of now 3 other cancelled games

Not when the reason they can't field a team is due to poor roster management prior to the season and the Covid outbreak happening due to people on the team attending a Halloween party that violated every social distancing guideline known to man.
FORFEIT

The SECRant Office of Stats and Recordkeeping believes this method to be the most suitable means to ensure a fair, legitimate, and democratic resolution. We would also like to extend our assurances to all participants that measures are in place to counteract any illicit voting done by alters and any other forms of tampering

If we (LSU) have to forfeit our game because of Covid, then Florida should forfeit the game postponed earlier this year because of Covid. This would be impossible to do without forcing a lot of the other teams to forfeit games.

Sure they do. Who gives a shite? You're not going to make it to 15-0 this season anyway.

Well, I see your point Tuscaloosa. Yes, a lot of it is on LSU and probably some bad management but there's not really a precedent for a forfeit and nothing in the rules that says if we reasonably suspect your team fricked up and can't play a game, then you get a loss. If there way, I think you make a great point but alas there is not.

Of all the SEC games cancelled/postponed, is Alabama the only school begging for a forfeit?

We are wholly unaffiliated with the University of Alabama. We cannot speak for the University regarding their stance on the matter. Our review of this matter was initiated when the issue was being discussed by SECRant members in addition to various facts coming to our attention. All of the recently postponed SEC games are currently being reviewed by this Office and could potentially be subject to a Forum Vote. Thank you.
