I think us playing like crap and getting a win today is better going into Arkansas than us winning by 30 and hitting 18 threes would've been.

There are some teachable moments from today and I think us playing bad today will have us even more focused going into Arkansas.

Hopefully the guys are in the gym these next few days getting up a ton of shots.

Honestly - I'm not really upset by today at all. We had some ugly moments early and in the 2nd half, but we just missed open shots. All-day long. Across the board.

Georgia and Vanderbilt are very similar teams in terms of efficiency profiles and how they play.....and today was exactly the same as the Georgia game, except instead of going 18/30 from 3PT (60%) we went 10/39 from 3PT (26%).

The looks were almost exactly the same. Our defense was almost exactly the same. The only difference was the 24 points in 3PT.

3 PT
UGA - 18/30
Vandy - 10/26
-24 pts

2 PT
UGA - 18/26
Vandy - 16/22
+4 pts

FT
UGA - 25/30
Vandy - 20/28
-5 pts

Even the defense was similar

FG% Against
Vandy - 43.9%
UGA - 43.1%

Points
Vandy - 78
UGA - 82

Vandy's PPP was a bit better, but mainly because they made 10 3s to UGAs 2.

The difference in the 2 games was we made ALL the open 3s against UGA and we missed ALL the open 3s against Vanderbilt.

I kind of hope Duke wins the ACC tournament because it would be hilarious. I also hope that if we don't win the SEC Tournament that Kentucky does.

Also for the hilarity.

Hard to be upset about a win on a bad day.

I just don't see them as being that good. Defense in basketball only takes you so far. You have to be able to score the ball. I think we would beat them double digits.

Nice they were one behind us in Ken Pom, I thought they might jump us with a win.

I am surprised we haven't jumped Houston yet, seems like they were one or two spots ahead of us and have had two losses (one was a really bad one) and are still one in front of us. We are ahead of them on them in most brackets and I think we will jump them on Ken Pom finally if we beat Arkansas.

Also, the fact that the bad day was really just missing shots. By everyone. Wide-open shots. And we won.

The issues 2 weeks ago felt like "damn we gotta fix this" issues (because they were). The issues today feel like "that was weird, glad we won anyway" issues. I guess if we shoot 9/28 in Fayetteville I might be worried that we suck at shooting, but right now it's hard to think this is some sort of issue and not just a weird off day.

Playing that tempo is just an invitation to lose games in the tournament. Less possessions, less margin for error, more chance for a team to get hot and shrink the game.

Their championship team had playmakers on it (Hunter, Guy, Jerome). When they don't have those guys.....they're just asking for trouble playing every game at 57-49.

This is me. We freaking beat Vandy, that’s always a big deal for us. We had great shots, they just weren’t falling and we still won. Not to mention, the ref is a huge bitch

I am a little worried about us defensively. We've struggled with some specific stuff the last week or two and we gotta work some things out.

I feel really good about the offense right now. Ball movement is great, Bruner is back, JQ is playing well, Primo is back involved, etc.

I really think we were just a little rusty. This has been a strange week. Normally, I’m the guy with the pitch forks, but I feel pretty good. (Knock on wood):

I'm glad ya'll brought this up.. This Ben dude on twitter brought up an interesting perspective.

Gonzaga and Baylor are obviously in their own class. But I think Alabama, fully healthy, can play with anyone else. They’re not who’d I necessarily choose as the third best team in the country but 3 through ~10 are bunch pretty tightly IMO.

Do anyone agree with that? I didn't feel like it's close race after Baylor and G team ( i can't spell)

Yea me too - if you'd told me after the Oklahoma game that we'd go 4-1 over the next 5, our offense would look like itself again and we'd be down to a magic number of 1 going into the last 3?

I'd say sign me up boss.

I think that there is Baylor/Gonzaga, then I think Michigan is kind of right behind them in front of everyone else.

But after that? Who the hell knows. Most of the #2-4 seeds will all be very similar IMHO. The only separation will be who matches up with who and who is playing well at the time.

George, a SEC regular season championship would mean so much to me I keep saying it, because some folks lose track of that kind of stuff. It might not mean much to Kentucky fans, but my arse would be in tears

I agree - I think the makeup of our team is about as NCAA Tournament proof as you could come up with.

- Tempo, which dilutes possessions and makes it difficult for a mid-major type to upset you because they have a good night shooting or something

- Defense, which is a constant

- Offensive ceiling, which we've proven is sky high

I'd be absolutely shocked if we lose to a #15 seed or even a #7 seed like Rutgers or Virginia Tech or something at this point. I think past that (Sweet 16) that everything is basically a toss-up outside of games involving Gonzaga/Baylor.

Teams like our old Gottfried teams (no defense, all shooting) or, on the flip side, our Grant teams (all defense, slow, bad shooting) were ripe for upsets. LSU is a perfect example of this. If the one good thing isn't perfect and the other thing is bad enough, you are toast. Our team this year is not that type of team.

Dude I'm with you. We aren't talking about it all that much because we don't want to jinx it and we have big goals too, but we haven't won an SEC Title in 20 years. Like, that's a big fvckin deal. A really, really big fvckin deal.
