A couple of those descriptions called ya'll the Plainsmen. Either that or you allow the students to play in a game. As far as you citing Arkansas, your logic is stupid. Arkansas' mascot is the razorback or wild pig. SOOOE Pig is what pig farmers use to call the pigs and hogs to feed. Your link just proves that AU has always had multiple mascots. LSU was always just the tigers. If you look up the history, you will see why LSU adopted the Bengal tiger as their mascot. It goes back to the Civil War. Our mascot naming is based on fact. Yours is based on legend. That crap with the Civil War soldier and AU playing and the eagle flying and then dropping dead and people crying war eagle is a legend. When will you guys finally adopt a real mascot? IMO, War Eagle sounds like a good one.

highup7,
First of all, you list my hometown as your place of residence. I lived there for 22 years of my life, and still live in the same county. We need to get together for some beverages.
Alex City is a strange and wonderful place.
Second of all, Alabama has a MUCH larger fanbase than Auburn for a lot of reasons. Mostly because of the championships, etc..., but also because many people view it as the STATE college as compared to Auburn.
Living only 35 minutes from Auburn, you see an inordinate amount of Auburn graduates and people traveling US-280 to Auburn. It can skew perceptions. I saw some statistics once that showed the Alabama fanbase at somewhere near 70% of state residents. I don't think it is actually that high, but it is well over 60%.
On another interesting note: You know that Terrell Owens is from Alex City, right? Have you also noticed that it really doesn't get mentioned that much? No streets, signs, buildings, anything named for him.
