Long strides

That was always funny to me too. A guy I went to school with who played basketball ran kinda like that, like a medium gallop stride yet was always a few feet ahead of the rest of them.
Matt was a hottie and he played long enough ago that I don’t have to feel creepy saying that.

This. The king of deceptively fast. I seen it with my own eyes

So slow? Are we remembering the same person? 6'6 242 running a 4.37 40 sure isn't slow. These are NFL Combine numbers

He didn’t look even the slightest bit slow.

When I think of Matt Jones this instantly comes to mind...
Alright, we stopped him! shite! He still got 10 yards.

It's like Derrick Henry. You don't realize how fast he is moving until you see him pulling away from others.
My dad always said those types of players were like flying geese when they hit their top gear. They look like they are moving slowly because of their size and no frame of reference in the sky, but you shoot behind them (or in football take a bad angle to close) because you didn't realize that smooth glide through the air was at 40-50 miles per hour.
Jones was a pure freak of nature with his size, speed, and athleticism. His arm strength was incredible, too; people caught the ball out of self preservation at times. It may be bad memory, but I believe he is the one that people around him claimed could throw 75 yds from his knees.
Shame it didn't work out for him in the NFL, really incredible talent. He had a ton of upside in the league.

It was demoralizing to watch him lope past everyone in the secondary while looking like it was a slomo replay.
