Why would the replay official be suspended for getting the rules correct?

Could be due to their definition of immediate.

Such as....you applied the rule correctly but defined the word immediate wrong....screwing up the call causing the SEC Office to do what they always do and spin this like they were correct.

Whether they get suspended or not....they probably got a good arse chewing over this debacle.

I’ve hated replay for years now- I said it in someone’s game thread last weekend. It’s like the hand of God has to appear before them to make the correct call. If their hands are tied and they can’t do anything then why the hell even have them.

Replay official was in an unwinnable position.
But he completely fricked it up

He had two choices

1. Reverse the call and give it to Arkansas

2. Reverse the call, say there wasnt an immediate recovery after the whistle, so Auburn will retain possession and clock will start on the refs whistle

He instead said the call stands

This is kind of where I'm at. The guys on the field totally dropped the ball on this and put the replay official in a situation where he couldn't fix what they fricked up so badly. But here's my thing...what's the point of having replay to get calls right when you hamstring yourself as to what is and isn't reviewable. If you can't have a system to correct any wrong call in a game, then the system is broken

Just like Arkan5as to want a win you didn't earn. Recover the ball quickly next time bitch instead of needing 5 seconds and ref interference to cover the ball

I think we all agree it was a fumble. Even the SEC office agreed with that. However, the ruling on the field of an incomplete pass STOOD. If they had correctly ruled it a fumble, Auburn would have had to kick the field goal from 2-3 yards further back. Given that Auburn's kicker had already missed one from a similar distance earlier, and given that he BARELY made the winning kick, that 2-3 yards could have made all the difference in the world.

If this call benefits Alabama or Auburn, the call usually stands. That’s the SEC for you. At least they seem to admit they made a mistake this time.

Who cares. The botched snap and spike are pretty fluky. I’ve never seen anything like that. Arkansas had plenty of chances to win it but the fans are relying on a completely random/absurd sequence of events to claim victory.

Here is a highlight video from CBS or someone. I like how the title of the video says come from behind win for the Hogs.

It went through almost middle of uprights with 10-15+ yards of room to go

I highly doubt it. Not for a game like that where neither one of us really matter in the scheme of things.
