Maybe, just maybe, we're overreacting a little regarding last night's performance.
It was the worst defensive performance in modern Alabama history. I don't think we are overreacting at all. Outside of the end of the half and the last possession of the game, the only time Ole Miss didn't score were on possessions where their center made bad snaps. Do I think things snowballed on us? Yes. Do I think we'll play this poorly from here on out? No. However, after last year, to come out and look worse than we did in any ballgame last year (even LSU).........I mean I don't know what else to say to that.
They do not look fundamentally sound, they look confused and they look lost. And to top it off, their play-caller hasn't proven in 1 game in his entire career that he can counter anything that anyone does successfully to start a ballgame. I feel completely logical in my assessment that I don't trust them against a semi-legitimate offense at all.

Exactly. It was worse than the Texas A&M game in 2013 when Manziel ran up and down the field.

A&M drives after they went up 14-0
- Punt
- Interception
- Punt
- End of Half
- Interception for TD
- Touchdown
- Punt
Between mid-1st qtr and mid-4th our defense scored as many points as A&M's offense did. That game was bad, and it wasn't even in the same STRATOSPHERE as what happened last night.

Maybe.
One glaring concern for me is this...
Can anyone say with conviction that our team has shown consistent improvement through the course of last year or the small sample size of this year in:
1. Tackling
2. Covering
I feel like we are seeing the same regression this year that was seen last year. Last year injuries was a part of it...to a degree. But now a pattern is developing....or maybe I am not seeing what I think I am seeing.

It was bad. I've never been more disappointed in an Alabama defense than I am right now. The thing of it is, this team has talent. But the talent isn't being coached right and/or being utilized right. Moses looks awful and the wheel route continues to be uncovered. Also think that DJ Dale is very unimpressive. Byron Young is better. The coaches need to mix and match better this week or it will get ugly quick.

The 2010 USC game was very disappointing to me.

Lets just hope this is like the 2009 game against Kiffin's UT team and the rest of the season mirrors that season.

2014 Auburn was horrible. The one where we won 55-44.

That is probably the one this feels the most like to me. It didn't feel like we had any shot to stop them for the majority of the game. The only time we stopped them until the 4th quarter was when they screwed up on their own.

We have people predicting a loss to Georgia by 20+ points.
That's absolutely overreacting.
There's no denying we looked like shite last night, but some people are acting like we will give up 48 points a game for the remainder of the season.

Labryan Ray was getting thrown on his arse all night long. Just got mauled. The lack of effort from the supposed leader of this defense Dylan Moses was the worst though. He loafed and jogged around all game long.

If some of these all star players of ours aren’t going to give max effort, bench their asses and let’s give some young and hungry players a shot. Kaho may not know what the hell he’s doing, but he does it full speed every play. I’d also like to see what guys like Sopsher and Tim Smith could do. Dale is not a playmaker in the middle. Ray is meh. Let’s see if the young guys are ready to eat.
I get our secondary having some growing pains breaking in all these new starters but our front 7 should be elite and they are dog $hit right now.

Agreed. Dale is not impressive at all. He just stands there and catches blocks. He has bad knees too. Byron Young and Barmore at least go all out and disrupt plays. Kaho is a demon on special teams. He goes all out every snap.

We honestly just need to start rolling in bodies as much as possible to get a better mix on the field because right now the effort is pathetic.

My question is where is the defensive line rotation we were so excited about?
We have people to rotate in and we never do it. Sure, you can chalk it up to Lane going tempo, but that's why we have three fricking timeouts at our disposal.

Play different guys until somebody shows you something. I don’t care how old they are or how long they’ve been here. Produce or sit down.

I agree I refuse to believe that some guys on that bench right now couldn’t come in and do a lot better and have more energy than the guys on the field last night hell even Dylan Moses looked like he didn’t give a shite last night. All the missed tackles really tells the story of how bad coaching is on that side of the ball tho

I hope every practice this week is full pads and tackling to the ground for our defense. Make them suffer so much in practice that the games are easy.
