I don’t see boosters or the school ponying up buyout money with the huge revenue hits due to the virus.

I’m afraid we’re stuck to live out the nightmare plague 7 year $49,000,000 contract of 2017.

Yoo-hoo, I've been telling some of you for years now that the bandaid needed to be ripped off. For YEARS. Now you clowns are going to be stuck actually waiting this contract out due to COVID. This move COULD HAVE been made in the past, but remember..."there's no guarantee we'll get someone better than Gus!", "what if we hire someone worse?". So instead of having conviction to see an obvious fricking mistake and having the balls to go in another direction even with the uncertainty, now we're going to need to sit the entire contract out while the program crumbles.

There's your life lesson kiddos: acting like a scared little pussy and doubling down on mediocrity leads to nothing more than the same, except now who knows what the long term effect on the program this bullshite will create.

I say Auburn leadership made this bed, now the fans are going to have to wallow in it.

Can Auburn not afford to make that buyout?
What is program status going to be in another four years in regards to Auburn vs. Alabama, LSU, Tennessee, Georgia, Florida?

You saw where it stands currently last night.

I’ve said all along that he should’ve been fired after LSU 2017. Period. That was the key moment. I never saw the fanbase more united in firing him than after that shite show.

Firing him then would’ve prevented this massive financial mistake of a contract after he beat UGA/Bama later that year, only to lose to UCF and go 7-5 the next year.

Now here we are with 4 more years to go, and a pandemic that is causing huge financial hits.

I didn’t realize that decision was up to the fans

Wake me up when he's gone. I only care about basketball.

I dont think so. We will move on him, or cut his support and make him move. He will be gone in less than 2 years. COVID is the only thing saving him now. If is time.

Guess the boosters think their own net worth is more important than the so called commitment they made to the AU AD to see it succeed.

Totally agree with pretty much everything you are saying but I don't think we are quite in a situation where we are screwed for years yet like a UT situation. As long as we continue to beat the teams we are supposed to beat and pull a random win over Bama every now and then we can maintain a solid enough reputation and recruiting profile that when a new coach comes in there will be something to work with. Just need to find somebody who knows how to recruit linemen on the offensive side of the ball and make in-game adjustments and from week to week.

That said, the longer we continue down this path the harder it's going to be to pull ourselves out of it.

We will move on him,

How? Who is going to fork over $25million now? Especially with the lost money from the virus.

He’s not leaving on his own. He has an SEC West program at his disposal.

Join the club pal. Not many people were hardcore on the Gus Bus after 2016 and the extension and raise in 2017 was a massive overreaction and I think a majority knew that

But to those that have this undying support of the man in his role of head coach, I just have to concede that I don’t see what you see in him.

Are you seriously suggesting that a handful of posters on a message board chose to not fire Gus, or are you simply unable to say anything without calling at least one or two people childish names? Are you this angry all the time in real life?

The problem is that this guy is like the coaching equivalent of herpes - his sheer ability to "come back" is mindblowing. Like there's been about a half-dozen times when he should have been moved on from, and what happens? Satan himself pulls some strings to save this man's job. Does he dabble in the occult? Blood magic? It wouldn't surprise me.

This looks like its going to be ANOTHER year wherein the team is bad enough that surely there's no way he survives...but he essentially will irregardless of the product on the field. He's proven time and time again that when it gets to this point, somehow the ball will bounce for him and he'll do just enough to buy himself another year. He's spent almost a decade "buying himself another year" while accomplishing nothing.

Of course not, but the fanbase as a whole has the power to demand a change be made, and when those opportunities presented themselves...what happened? Pussyfooting happened. Like I could bring up about a hundred posts over several years about how we can't fire him because we don't have anyone better lined up. That sentiment resonates with the fanbase as a whole, which is what has led to YEARS of being content with mediocrity. Its the exact same thing as being miserable and hating your job, but saying "what am I going to do after I quit?" If that is your mindset, then guess what is going to happen? You'll never leave that job and is going to be a repeating pattern.

The boosters and people in power just resonate to the frequency of the fanbase. The fanbase has allowed Gus to survive time and time again, period.

I remember seeing this idea, but no one in their right mind would agree to piss away guaranteed money.

With the virus and loss of attendance and revenues, money is likely tighter than ever in the AD office.
