We finished 4th and 6th the last two years in recruiting, so no. Our recruiting deficiencies are more likely related to the fact that we have been just an above average program historically with a few really good seasons sprinkled in.
To address the yell leaders, on the whole I don't think people at A&M are embarrassed of them. There are a lot of people who think we should bring on a cheerleading team for football though. Maybe something similar to the dance team for basketball.

Not embarrassed at all, father was one.
As "gay" as it seems from outside the university, inside is a different story. Rarely do you see a yell leader without a smokeshow girlfriend.

I'm indifferent to it TBH.
The Corps gets WAY too much TV time IMO. They are such a small percentage of the school but get 90% of face time.
The yell leaders are just that. No big deal. I appreciate the dance team at the beginning of the games.
Just let me watch the damned football game.

The Corps Block ORIGINATED my freshman year (first season of the Big 12).
Prior to that, with the exception of the Aggie Band, cadets were dispersed with their non-uniformed classmates in the stands.
