So why in your head do you think a tv company thats programming is based only off of sports would want said sports cancelled? This is the dumbest narrative being floated.

You can ignore the OP and listen to their talking heads for yourself.
They are openly campaigning for the season to be cancelled.
You can argue the why, but there is actual video evidence of them doing exactly what he stated.

Additionally, wasn't ESPN in a financial struggle before this happened? I recall them laying off some of their on air personalities as well restructuring contracts with other employees.
In the alternative, maybe they overextended themselves with these huge TV contracts and this is a way out from under them.
