Anyone else at the game? Bama won 27-0, TN QB Alatorre was mvp for Bama. Highlight of the game was halftime in the pouring rain, CDB performed "In America" and Legend of Wooley Swamp." Vols had Hancock and Miller at WR and no QB to get the ball to them.

If I remember correctly, Alabama kicked 4 field goals in that game from multiple Vol turnovers.

It's hard to believe, but Tennessee was just as awful during the late 70s and early 80s as they were the past decade

Yeah but I think a couple of years later they started a 9 year streak on Alabama. The 1983 Vol team was one of my favorites. They upset Miami 35-7 in the Sugar Bowl with backup QB Doug Dickey. Maybe that was 85?
Edit..the streak started in the 90s.

It really isn't.
The 90's were the exception not the rule for the Vols.

fricking Alatorre. As a young kid listening to the radio, if I could’ve jumped through the radio and kick his arse I would’ve. He also was the reason they lost to fricking clown show Rutgers the previous year. Not even the great voice of the Vols John Ward could bullshite anything positive from that game. Then they turn around the next week and beat Norte Dame. Hubert Simpson’s 4 touchdown game.

I was. I thought I remember Jeff Olszewski also playing. The late Benny Perrin came free on a safety blitz and just leveled JO causing a big turnover. Man Benny could lay the lumber

UT had Willie Gault at WR that season...but he was only a sophomore.
