Why all the chest pounding?

Ok,
Why does every player and every coach in the SEC have to say "toughest conference" every time they talk? WE GET IT. The SEC is the best conference right now. Can we all just agree to that and move on? I get so tired of reading things like when Tebow said he wouldn't make it through another "SEC season" with the way he ran last year. What, does the 300 LBS DT at Miss. State hit harder than a 300 LBS at Indiana? Probably not.
Can't they just say something like "This is a tough conference year in and year out." That, I feel, would be a more classy remark than trying to disrespect other conferences every chance they get.
Now SEC fans, Rant away

I mean I agree that the SEC is tops. I admitted as much. But do they have to say it every chance they get?

Yes we do and that's because the national media wont give up old bias.

Hahah, true true. Heres something this guys should take a look at - well maybe not. Here's something for all SEC Fans. We don't pound our chest like OSU does, even though they are what, 0-9 vs. SEC in bowl games?

The National media was all over the SEC's nuts the entire year of 2007, and will be all year in 2008. Then, they will turn on you, like they turned on the Big X, as soon as you start lossing games; it's called ratings

It's a valid question.
Don't you think Miles' poke at the PAC-10 last year made people think about the differences in the level of difficulty of the two conferences? It at least put the issue on the table. And at the end of the season, a two-loss LSU team got the benefit of the doubt - and the respect I feel they deserved.
Same deal here. Raise your hand if you think an SEC team will go unbeaten this year. The truth is, there's about a 75 percent chance the 2008 SEC champ will have at least one loss. So the coaches of these schools are duty bound to remind the press, God and everybody (ad nauseum) that the SEC is the toughest conference in the nation to make sure the SEC champion gets serious consideration at the end of the year, even though it may not look as sexy on paper as champions from its fellow BCS conferences.

Well, it tends to piss us off when our conference doesn't get the recognition it deserves. Why the hell should we take crap about our OOC games all the time? Why shouldn't a two loss SEC team be in the NCG over a one loss OSU or USC team? They should be IMO.
Really, it's just our conference telling the media that their comments are fricking ridiculous.

dude they always wash OSU Ba**s, its a joke. Its almost like OSU pays them to blow them up. I mean, there are 5 teams in the SEC, including Kentucky, that would have given a better game to LSU ( and I'm not trying to be arrogant LSU fans, it was our finest hour :) )
WVU shoulda had a shot. For that matter, Georgia should have had a shot. But two SEC teams just wouldn't be fair - even though everyone knows they are the best.

Buckeye, I have an easy answer for you. Come down south and attend everyone of Georgia's SEC conference games. They seem to have the worst draw right now with their road games. That will answer your questions. I've been to other rivalry games in other conferences. It just ain't the same.
I'm confident the other conferences will catch up.
