Egg Bowl record on the field is actually

62-47-6 (Forget all the forfeits, vacated games etc.)

The difference in the series is due to Johnny Vaught. From 1947-1970, 1973 , Ole Miss was
19-2-4 against State which is effectively the overall difference in the series.

Since 1974, the official beginning of the post-Vaught era, Ole Miss leads 24-22 on the field. Both schools have forfeited or vacated two victories each in that period. Vaught was wholly responsible for for erasing Ole Miss’ gridiron ineptitude in the 1910s/first half of the 20s and had Ole Miss a full decade ahead in the W column by the time he ultimately hung it up. It was 24-17-2 in State’s favor pre-Vaught.

The other two victories came in blowout fashion in ‘71 and ‘72, but ‘72 was a bad year overall, and after losing to Memphis State in Jackson on the third week of the ‘73 season, Vaught, now AD, had seen enough of Billy Kinard. He fired his arse and replaced him with the best man for the job: himself.

I just don’t understand why you cucks continue to try to make this argument when State led 17-5-1 until 1925 when we apparently decided to start playing football.
