Based on?

Having to sit out a year and then winning the job somewhere else. That would have given him 1 year on the field, when he was starting at Alabama the next year.

If he didn't win the starting job after that, that's when he's gonna transfer. Just like Lia did.

If you think a kid like Young came here to sit the bench you are naive.

Have you actually listened to the kid talk or anything?

I'm saying it's not true. Even from a 5 star selfish point of view it would be dumb

Was Tua a selfish kid? His dad has repeatedly stated had Tua played the 2nd half against UGA he was transferring.

Top shelf QBs either start very early or they transfer. Think Philip Sims, Blake Barnett, etc.

Bryce Young didn’t grow up dreaming of playing at Bama, he dreamed of playing at USC and being drafted into NFL.

He chose Bama due to Sark and because Bama was a better platform for him to make the league compared to the dumpster fire that is the Trojan football program right now.

It’s just the way modern college football is. Joe Burrow had probably never been to Baton Rouge before he got beat out for the QB job at Ohio State and decided to transfer.

Fact of life.

And if he had five star arm talent in front of him that would be fine. He was transferring because he knew he was better than Jalen passing the ball. No one respected our pass game with Jalen back there. Everyone could just sit on the run.

Who says he doesn't just go in and start at his new school?

I'm sure he could find a reason ala Martell, Fields, whatever

No he didn't. Tua mentioned it trying to tell a story about how you shouldn't just give up and you should stick to things when talking to kids.

Blake Barnett RS his first year and so did Philip Sims. They were both beat out by better players.

Has nothing to do with if he's going to transfer after not starting as a true freshman.

Joe Burrow was at Ohio St for 3 years and got his degree there.

You cited...0 examples of a player leaving because they didn't start as a true freshman.

Because it's a dumb decision.

Young will for sure take over at some point this season, probably by mid season.

Possible, but that's a pretty big assumption.

At any rate, Saban isn't going to put him out there if Mac Jones is better.

I would be surprised by that unless Mac Jones is really struggling.

Jake Fromm still had eligibility left.

Kind of like if Tua was only a sophomore this coming year and you knew he was going to start the next 2 years.

That doesnt mean Fields couldn't have beat him out.

For whatever reason he apparently felt as though he couldn't.

Might have had something to do with the Georgia offensive style also.

But if he hadn't gotten that waiver, he would have sat out and would have been the starter at either school next season.

Tua was playing behind a true sophomore in Jalen. Jones is a grad student ( though a rs jr grad student)

I'd say a highly recruited quarterback transferring to another big program would probably get the waiver if he came up with something halfway believable.

I think Mac is solid - given the whole COVID thing and all, seems unlikely Young sees real time this year IMO.

If Young does - SEC fricked

At any rate, I believe Jones starts in 2020 then Young probably takes over in 2021. Jones will likely leave then.

I don't know. It's pretty rare, but seems to be trending towards being more common.

It's a risk with the NCAA either way.
