A&M: Do you think there’s any chance that Zach Calzada becomes the starting QB this year?

I was just wondering if there was any talk around College Station about Mond being challenged for the starting role. I’ve never seen Calzada play, so I wanted to get your thoughts on him. Is he a better passer/runner than Mond right now or do you think he needs another year to develop?

It was really hard to tell watching him last season because he was playing with the 2nd and 3rd string offensive line and 2nd and 3rd string receivers.
Is he a better passer than Mond? Yes
Is he a better runner than Mond? Absolutely not
I think had we seen him play in a Spring Game last month we'd be able to make a better assessment.

Why would they bench the BEST quarterback in the SEC?
Mr. 92 yards and a 30% completion rate is the MAN in aggieland.

It would mean he absolutely dominates fall camp and Mond regresses. If it happens in the season then it means we’re failing to meet expectations. With as soft as our early schedule is then that’s a terrible sign.

It's gonna be Mond, and he's gonna be fine. He'll even have moments when he looks very good.

An Aggie talking about beating goobers no surprise there

It's that schedule that will do aggies in. What is it something like five weeks without a true home game? SEC road games are a killer.

Based on what exactly?

Oct 3 to Starkville if the first true road game. Oct 17 and 24 are also on the road. Oct is difficult in the sense of being on the road so much, but its State, Auburn, and U of SC. 2/3 should be very winnable.

I could see A&M go 3-0 or 0-3 during that stretch

U of SC and MSU are expected to be 5 to 7 win teams. A&M absolutely cannot lose to either this season if it's expected to be a good year.

SEC road games back to back are killers. I don't care who the opponent is. Ask uga dawgs about their last trip to columbia. Only one home game in a month for the aggies. On the flight to columbia some of them players might be daydreaming about what they will be doing on the weekend after during the bye week.

No way in hell, Jimbo is tied to Mond.
