Just announced in Blacksburg that VT will open the 09 college football season with a "made for TV" neutral site game against Alabama in the Georgia Dome. The real question is not whether or not VT will choke again, but whether Saban will still be with the Crimson Tide! Go Tigers and Go Hokies!

VT can't choke again because they didn't
choke the first time. They got their asses whipped big time. Now the second part might definently be true.

Yes the Kansas game you idiots. In fact the last time we played Alabama, we beat them. We need to renew the LSU VT game.

You're athletic department probably never wants to see LSU on the schedule ever again after last year

The last time you played Alabama, it was Mike Dubose's second season and Mike Vick was still playing.

I like our chances a lot more with Saban going into his third season.

Sorry Buddy, you're wrong. Our QB in 1998 was Al Clark and Michael Vick was still in HS. We beat you guys in Nashville at the first ever Music City Bowl. I was there and met a bunch of great Alabama fans. IN fact, after the game a bunch of Bama guys kept yelling over to us "what the hell's a hokie?" We sent them a round of Wild Turkey shots. They got their answer and we pushed the tables together!

Vick's first year was 1999, my mistake. I know we lost that game by a lot (37-7?). You can joke about Saban leaving, but I'm not worried. Like I said in the other thread, many Alabama fans welcome the challenge of playing VT. Julio Jones and the other freshmen will have a year under their belt and will be able to make a difference.

"DUDE" as you say, I was referring to our loss to Kansas in the Orange Bowl. Yes LSU beat the snot out of us in BR last year and we pretty well handled LSU in Blacksburg a few years ago. Those are the only two times we have ever played. So the series is 1-1. I say we continue it.

I think VT kicks Bama's arse. I don't remember the Tide even showing a semblance that they were going to be good in the next couple of years. Did I miss something?

You're on an LSU board talking about getting another crack at the SEC, if you were referring to Kansas then you should have clarified that in your opening statement then having us believe you were talking about LSU...

I read the post in front on me, it didn't state anything about Kansas, only LATER in the THREAD did he clarify himself, after others also thought the same thing I did, just sayin...

That announcement is a little premature. The Atlanta sports foundation or something is trying to host a season opening matchup from now on of two big non-conference schools. Virginia Tech is in for next year, and they said Alabama is target #1, however, Alabama is unlikely to open in Georgia two seasons in a row (with Clemson this year)AND the contracts have already been inked for most of next season's games. It would take ALOT of manuevering to free up the schedule for next season.
The Atlanta group even said that they are "nowhere near close to securing Alabama for the game", but that an SEC school was absolutely the top priority.
