What's the go/no go date for college football?

Surely they are already looking at possibilities and contingencies, aren't they? Opening night is Friday, August 28. When will they have to make a decision about whether or not to start on time? July 1, for example? I fully expect the worst will be over by then...but no one ever expected March Madness to be canceled.
Also, will they allow fall practice to begin earlier to make up for the loss of the spring?
Sorry if discussed already.

I think we will know a whole lot more by July.

They will get every coach to play through the season on NCAA14

I believe if they are not practicing by August 10th all September games will be cancelled. It may be a season on the brink! U. of Tenn researchers are believed to be near a cure/vaccine to turn the tide of COVID-19 should this be the case and it gets implemented in the very near future, football may be saved. So, go Vols! We're all behind you on this.

there was a doc on inside edition this morning that said things could be settled down a bit by mid-may if everyone does their part in taking precaution during the quarantine/lockdown

They keep saying a vaccine is 6 months to 1 year away so let's hope for the best.

It's not going to happen. Sure they may try it but someone will get sick and it will all shut down again. Just plan on no sports for 2020.

My best guess is that the season will happen but the early part of it may be affected. I’m thinking no fans at the first game IF the season kicks off in August.
I think we’ll mostly be back to normal then, but there will still be concerns about having mass gatherings and travel. We definitely do not want to relapse if some of y’all think our economy is bad now, good god I cannot imagine what it would be like if we had to repeat this shite.
I’m just hoping they push the season back without cancelling games.

My guess is we'll know more in about 2-3 weeks.
If the daily number of active cases continues to increase exponentially, and if the number of deaths is also still increasing, then we know we're in this for a very long time.
If the active cases peaks within the next 2-3 weeks, then I expect life will be relatively back to normal by June. Of course I think international travel will be restricted until this virus runs its course all over the world, and that could be many more months.

There will be a season. A full season. I didn’t expect to be where we are now 3 weeks ago. So I certainly can be wrong. But not on this.
