I can’t imagine a good coach would dress like he does

Yes imo but hard to tell with this team.
I will say he did not do a good job with last year’s Nevada team imo.

per Hogg fans.. every coach they have in any sport is the one to get them to respectability "next year". The coach , sport, record or year doesn't matter as it's always in the "future".

Nevada was 29-5 last year. That's pretty good IMO.

He was playing with a team that was absolutely stacked with talent (had a McDonald’s AA coming off the bench) and was 1-1 against the Top 50 and had 3 sub 100 losses. Played one of the worst schedules of all time for a preseason FF contender and got worse as the year went on. Never reeled in the Martin twins.
That team finished outside the KenPom top 25 and didn’t win a game in the tourney despite being one of the 15 most talented teams in America.

Musselman coached at Nevada for 4 years.
Yearly record:
2016: 24-14
2017: 28-7
2018: 29-8
2019: 29-5
NCAA Tournament appearance last 3 years. His record speaks for itself. He's a good coach. Only time will tell how well he does at Arkansas. But I like what I'm seeing so far.
It's easy to nitpick.

Muscleman's first season at Nevada was 2015-2016 and they were 24-14. He never went 9-22 there, lol.
Musselman is a great coach. Our starting center this year was 6'6" and we had 6 players.
He has a Top 7(was top 5) class coming in with some size. We'll be fine next year.

Muss is a great basketball "coach".
He coaches the game with respect to his talent.
We'll see how well he does when he gets some size and depth to deal with.
The conference will improve next year with the newer coaches.

You're right. My mistake. He was there for 4 years.

Not saying he isn’t a good coach at all, because I think he is, but I think if you watched Nevada last year with everyone back from a Sweet 16 team + adding Brown and those transfers you would have to admit it wasn’t his best coaching job.
They clearly got worse as the season went along. They had trouble closing games out and they had trouble closing the season out. I saw them in person in Phoenix in December in a doubleheader after Tennessee/Gonzaga and they were not far off from VOLS/Zags talent wise but didn’t seem very cohesive. Would love to hear Muss’s thoughts on those guys. Very old team, I wonder if it was a lot of guys thinking about their own future instead of the team and just out talenting the vast majority of their schedule.

I think he is still learning the college game. Yes that sounds odd considering his age. But he had most of his coaching in the pros and he was just an assistant at LSU recently.
Arkansas was picked 11th in the conference for a reason this year. I think he did a fine job this year and this team proves that no matter how good a coach you are, you will lose to more talented teams.

Well. The only bad stretch we rally had was when Joe was injured and we dropped 5 straight. We had no depth at all this season. We have a top 5 class coming in for next season. Things are looking up.

I wouldn't trade him for anyone else right now.

He's one of the best coaches in the nation. You can laugh at this comment now, but you want be for long. I've known him for over 15 years. There is not a single coach in any league that works harder than him. UCLA really dropped the ball not going after him last year, thanks to a few of our butthurt boosters he supposedly snubbed years back. I doubt he would've took the job anyways. He had his eyes on the Arkansas job weeks before they even made a change in hogland. You can look at one of my threads from last year to confirm this.
One more thing razorback fans, he will be their as long as you guys let him. He loves Fayetteville, the program, the AD and everything about the state. You guys are lucky and I wish you guys all the best.

I can confirm this. You point blank rold hog fans that he was interested before his name ever popped up. I remember.

He definitely has my confidence. The man can coach. And whenever this team is clicking, they can hang with anyone. It's been a good year for the Hogs and the future looks even brighter.
