so let me think about this.

Nevermind that Joe Burrow wasn't good enough to play at Ohio State but some LSU fans said he was so mediocre (57% completion pct) his junior year at LSU because wide receivers dropped so many passes and the offensive line didn't block well. So Burrow wasn't to blame for being mediocre that year, but gets the credit for being great the next year, in spite of the fact he's playing with mostly the same receivers and linemen. How does that work?

My contention is that Burrow wasn't as bad as his junior year indicated (never mind he wasn't good enough to play at Ohio State), and he isn't as good as the senior year indicates. My contention is that Joe Brady was very good at scheming a game plan for the opposition and getting receivers open.

Now, during the season some LSU fans pretty much admitted that Brady was in fact due to the turnaround. Now that he's one and done in Baton Rouge, though, some of those same LSU fans say that Brady actually wasn't all that, and in fact Ensminger was the offensive coordinator and will carry on as well without Brady the Boy Wonder. This, in spite of the fact that Ensminger was the O.C. before Brady's one and done in Baton Rouge lightning in a bottle year.

Is that about right? Did I forget anything?

Well for starters, Burrow arrived at LSU in August and started immediately. Do you think QBs can just hop into a system, without having prior experience in it, and excel immediately? Burrow is one of those run-first QBs where you can just read the field & run when there is a gap. He had to actually learn a scheme. As for lineman, it was the biggest question mark coming into the season. The lineman did well, but the award they received was solely on Burrow's production. Fans might tell you otherwise, but the LSU OL was not very good this year.

Brady came in & gave tremednous insight, in addition to Esminger's prior knowledge. Brady is gone, but the forumla is there & Esminger knows it now. If you look at the 2nd half of the year Burrow's junior year, you start to see what Esminger wanted all season, but it took time for Burrow to get acclimated.

No, but I don't expect a narrow-minded gump to capture all that information.

Yeah, you did, Jordan Jefferson.

According to you, Jordan Jefferson was just an analyst and a scheme away from throwing for 60+ TDs and winning the Heisman in 2011. Right?

I mean, hell, with the right analyst and scheme, Herman Johnson could've been a Heisman winning QB for LSU.

Did you mean to put “my contention isn’t” at the beginning of one of those statements?

If you’re contention is that Joe Burrow isn’t as good as his senior year indicates, I would really like to see what data you can provide to support that claim.
