How optimistic are you for 2020?

This was a bizarre season. At 1-7 we looked like one of the worst teams in the league with an atrocious defense. After our changes during the bye week, we looked like a playoff team.
Do you think this means something going into 2020? Or will it be the same old Falcons with all late season wins fricking up are draft stock and us being 7-9 again?

Means nothing, next season is a different season

We've now become the New Orleans 7-9ers.

Pretty much. If we don't start out pretty good next year and finish with 9 wins, Quinn has got to go.

I'm guessing there will be a mandate to make the playoffs next season.

He will be on the thinnest of ice and there's no way he survives a start even close to what happened this year.
I suppose we'll keep Koetter.Doesnt exactly thrill me but I really don't wanna have the team go through ANOTHER OC learning curve.

Hate this thinking. However, I did want to put Shanny in a body bag in year 1. Maybe he'll want to run the ball? Perhaps motion pre-snap?

I figure it's a wash.Koetter would cost us as many games as a new OC would implementing his new system and we DAMN sure better take our preseason half way seriously in '20

Hope so.We ran the ball much better when Lindstrom cam back.Hell,Freeman looked like a completely different RB.
If we can keep Mack I think the O-line is gonna be very solid next year

Not really directed at you, but just noticed your comment about Quinn.
Can we stop pretending like it doesn't come back to Dimitroff yet? He was hired as the supposed "brains" behind NE's success. It's quite obvious that was not the case at this point.

We had the fourth-worst Pass Block Win Rate in the NFL. It was only ahead of the Panthers, Bengals, and Dolphins.

Did you not see improvement when Lindstrom came back? Anybody who observed the team certainly did.
McGary is still a work in progress but improved over the course of the season.

Oh agreed. I think DQ and Dimitroff are tied at the hip. When I say Quinn should get canned, I inherently mean both.

Playoffs or bust for Quinn/TD

I've been a fan of Atlanta sports teams since a kid in the early 70's. Optimism left the building for me a long, long time ago

Better sure, but let's not act like it was not a problem. McGary was a turnstile half the time.
While sacks are primarily a QB stat, Matt took 48 (the most in the league while only playing 14.5 games). He needs to be better at getting the ball out, but a 50% PBWR is flat out bad.

be a solid unit next year.
Pass rush needs to be our highest priority in the draft

I’m to the point I don’t see a championship from the Braves, Falcons or Hawks in my lifetime.
Even worse, I don’t even have the energy to hope for it. Haha!

He looked a lot better when Lindstrom came back. This offense really, really felt Lindstrom's absence a lot more than anticipated, mostly because Carpenter and Brown were fricking garbage.

The Super Bowl or a top-5 pick wouldn't surprise me at this point.

Sadly, agree. That's a definition of instability though and who does that fall with? Starts with a D and ends with a AN QUINN. Also TD but he's been 50/50 with draft picks. Seems like that's all you can really do as GM. The in-game coaching, clock mgmt, timeout issues, etc falls on 1 guy.
