This board and especially myself have been pretty critical of Arkansas in general. I was not a fan of the Pittman hire at all, but it seems to me he’s making some big moves that he probably had planned from even before he was officially hired. I feel like he went in with a binder because he hasn’t wasted time hiring his assistants. Ed O wasn’t revered as an amazing head coach but he made the right assistant hires and look how that has paid off. If Pittman does his recruiting thing and let’s his assistants do their job, arky could be in SEC west contention in a few years. I’m not saying they are 2 years away from running the table, but they are certainly in a better place right now than they have been in recent years.

In summary: good job R Kansas

I think it's pretty obvious pittman is well respected by other coaches. He is hiring the best of them.

I was expecting sarcasm but I'm pleasantly surprised.

You ever wonder where coach O got the idea for the binder? One of his proteges and the guy who pulled him out of fights had a binder for years.. and after O failed at OM and USC.. he tries a new approach.

I was so so on the hire, but willing to go with it because at least Pittman would probably be able to fix our horrible O-Line.

To my surprise he's gotten after it on the recruiting trail despite starting in a huge hole and he's made two of the best coordinator hires this season.

If he goes the Coach O route of let my coordinators do what I don't know how to do then he could do quite well at Arkansas. I'm not, mind you, predicting we win the West next season by a long shot. Bert left the program in shambles and Chad bulldozed it to the ground before setting it on fire.

This will be a multi year rebuild.

Really? Go ask their fans about O today. Not getting the permanent job doesn’t mean he was a failure there.

I agree. Arkansas is a good school, with great resources and facilities. They will right the ship.

Everything goes in cycles.

I was discussing this with a friend this morning. Let Sam Pittman recruit some decent talent and Arkansas is going to be a factor in the West.

Pittman can offer the 4 and 5 stars something that is guaranteed to swing some top talent. Immediate playing time.

That means in 2-3 years he will have an experienced team of good recruits and what is shaping up to be a top notch staff.

I do like the way things are coming together. Just have to wait and see whether it will translate into some wins on the field.

Arkansas contending for the west?! Did you wake and bake my friend?

They might win some games, but they ain’t contending for the west for many years.

They reside in the Sec west, they’ve fallen so far down they might never get up....they may never win it again.
