I've watched some App State games (vs NC and SC) but I'm trying to get a better understanding of how Drinkwitz and now Luper from TCU will run this offense with this roster.

What should we expect?

Hopefully one with a pulse like when Connor ran it

“He does a really good job at playing with tempo, but not necessarily sprinting to the ball every play. It’s knowing when to go slow and when to go fast, and the full progression of reads. There will be a lot of RPO stuff (run-pass option), with runs and little five-yard outs that keep moving the chains. I wouldn’t expect there to be many drives — or opening drives — without some sort of trickery that the team can execute. That’s kind of been in his DNA for a long time — get into that rhythm and then finding that perfect opportunity to pull out the fun trick play.”

From an App St. player:

I think it will look a lot like Nevadas offense.

zone reads, QB is part of running game, and snaps from shot gun, and pistol.

Shawn Robinson has got to be the guy for this offense right? I originally thought Conner B. would be the guy.

Depends on which Robinson shows up. The freshman year that looked good or the sophomore who took a step back.

I think Drink needs to head to North Dakota st, and get their qb to transfer.

freshman, who can run, run the read option and throw the ball. He's little raw throwing, but skill is there.

I am watching the bowl game right now and I know the head coach is not there to coach it but I get an idea what offense and defense are being played in the game. I do know that from what the head coach said that he is the offense. Meaning he runs his own offense and that means might not be the same from what he would have done if he was coaching the bowl game.

If his knee is healed, Connor B will be his guy. He recruited him at NCState and can make all of the throws Ryan Finley did at NCState. That is the version of the offense you should look at if for a glimpse of things moving forward.

App State wins the battle of the Clarks. FUn game, but damn, what an empty stadium!. Half these bowls need to go.

IMHO raise Bowl Eligibility to 8 wins and cut back to 20 bowls.

As long as the bowls are making money they aren’t going anywhere

Oh I know, but how much money can they be making? Must be television money, in which case why don't they offer $5 tickets and get more people in there?

Or is it some of that "but it's great for the community" political bullshite?

My hope is that whoever Drink hires to coach the OL gets that kind of function out of the run game. Clark puts a sound run defense on the field and once they had a grip on the front 7 action, App state rolled over the top of UAB.

That would work for me

But he's going to be out for a good while with that knee. No spring practice for him

I don't think the play calling will be much different with Robinson pulling the trigger. There might be a couple of concepts where he would struggle with the 3rd read throw but it won't be a deal breaker. Seeing the field the way Drink wants him to is a bigger question.
