what is the FPI based on?
Offensive and defensive efficiencies. It ignores game results (wins/losses). It's a computer algorithm that aims to measure how "good" a team is rather than what ranking they deserve.
All that said, they still have bama too high. Our defense is absolute garbage when it matters, and the offense is kind of shaky at the worst possible times as well.

That depends.
If a team you like is rated highly, or a team you dislike is rated low, then it is the most advanced and accurate measurement in all of college football.
If your team is low, or a team you hate is high, then it is made up of fairy farts and gumdrop wishes.
