Would this team have been his first losing season?

I mean I'm not sure that is true as historical evidence says he doesn't have those, but I am not sure how he would have this team playing right now lacking so much size.

No he would have a winning season, barely. We would have lost tonight.

What we are seeing now is basketball at it's fundamental best.

Solid defense and unselfish offense with a plan.

This is great to watch.

A blast from the past.A welcome oasis from what I've had to endure over the years.

GO HOGS!

I thought about Mikes defense tonight. SDS is the type of team that feast on a gambling trapping D. They would have backdoor cut and three pointed last year's team to death.

Highly doubt it. I believe Mike would have had us in the NCAAt this year. Great roster on this team, IMO.

That isn't to say I'm unhappy with Musselman. I think the Musselman hire is gonna prove to be the best coaching hire Arkansas has made in my entire life. But I'm still not gonna shite on Mike. I think he's a very good coach.

I legit wasn't shitting on mike. I like mike. I don't feel like he would have had a losing season, but I think this year would have been like an 18 win type of year.

Also doubtful whitt would have came.

I'm the biggest Mike Anderson homer around, I love the guy.

Having said that it was time to move on. He gave us our foundation back from years of incompetence.

The problem was he just isn't the guy that can put us where we need to be when you consider the recourses we put into roundball.

This year with Mike we would already know it's a rebuilding year. The cautious side of me keeps saying this anyway, just so I don't get my hopes up.

In reality, from what I've seen so far I'm beginning to believe we might go dancing. We will know more when we hit road games and tougher competition.

We only started 5–0 twice in Mike's tenure. 6–0 only once. I have the suspicion South Dakota is a better team than we made them look tonight. I have to say, that feels pretty good.

pretty sure if mike was still around south dakota would still be shooting freethrows with the way the refs called the game.

Yep, and that 6ft10 3 point shooter would have murdered us.

Mike would have called a time out to say guard him.

Mike had Gafford last year along with Jones and Joe and didn't come close to an ncaa bid

Muss is working on all aspects of the game: recruiting, developing, preparation, and gameday coaching. Mike only did one of those.

This team is night and day different on defense this year.

What?

We have 8 players. Didn’t everyone transfer out before Mike left anyway?

His 10-11 man rotation would have been impossible with this squad.

Are you not watching the same games I am? This roster of players is playing defense at levels never seen at the UofA before.

That is how this is a great roster. Because they have great ball players.

It's my opinion, man. Is that OK with you?

Those "8 players" we have (Muss is using a small rotation because that's what he prefers) are all but two Anderson players. And one of those two is still an Anderson player.

This team we are watching is Mike Anderson's team.

And yes, I believe we would have been back in the tournament this year. It's not a big deal and he isn't here anyways, so there's no way to know one way or another.

This is not Mike Anderson’s team. Muss appears to have complete buy in from everyone and has changed team mentality faster than I thought possible.

So now we are going to pretend that these aren't Anderson's players? Jesus Christ, I know it's always "cool" to disparage whoever the last coach was, but there is literally only one player out there playing that wasn't brought here by Anderson.

Is the team playing better ball under Musselman? Absolutely. But these are Anderson's guys.

I'll be interested to see what the team looks like moving forward after this season.

No one is pretending Mike didn’t recruit most of these guys. It’s not that they’re playing “better” basketball now, it’s that they’re playing completely different basketball.

This same group would look completely different under Mike. They didn’t magically start guarding the 3 point shot and running an offense. Muss has transformed them into “his” team.

Semantics. Arguing to argue.

A team is made of players. A team is defined by the players on the roster. Not the style of ball they play.

Anderson could have decided to run a 2-3 zone for the entire season and by your definition there it wouldn't be "his team."

Lol. No. If Mike was the coach and had adjusted his style he would get full credit from me. I like the guy. But he wouldn’t adjust and was fired for it. Muss was hired and implemented his way of doing things. That’s when it became his team.
