Seriously, look at the cumulative total of all academic ranking publications/services and LSU falls out toward the bottom of the SEC every year only slightly ahead of Ole Miss and Hail State. My guess -- since Louisiana has the highest poverty (and murder) rate in the USA, LSU has to accept a disproportionate number of sub-par in-state students which factors into its poor academic reputation. Auburn can boast the CEO of Apple; the founder of Wikipedia; 6 astronauts (including the second American female in space); a Medal of Honor recipient; and, many more accomplished grads. These include Academy/Grammy Award/Pulitzer Prize winners and several household name athletes. Conversely, LSU has James Carvelle; Shaq (considered your most prominent alum), Pistol Pete and some other professional athletes; a few journalists; a couple of actors; and, a long list of corrupt politicians.
