Dan Mullen’s coaching prowess over Kirby summed up...

By Dan himself... “our goal was to take the lead”
If I was a gator fan I wouldn’t be happy with his postgame comments. Seems he put it all on the players and even touted that the running game was good.

Mullen is a damn good coach, he just can't recruit very well. I thought that he'd at least have Florida consistently in the top 5 in recruiting, but I am sadly wrong. Saturday's game showed a huge gap in talent.

Reminds me a little of Les Miles.

This is an oxymoron at the college level.

I was told there would be a distinct X's and O's advantage for Mullen
Oh well. 2020 then I guess.

I think he’s a damn good coach as well, actually. I just didn’t think he carried himself very well in the presser postgame. I think his pride took a hit after all of his snippy comments about UGA recently

quote:Ummmm no it is not. You have guys that can recruit well, and you have guys that can coach well (scheme and make adjustments during the game). Some guys can do both well, some can in varying degrees. Mullen can develop QBs and attack and keep a good defense on its heals. He needs to get some better recruiters on his staff tho.

Georgia has way more alert than Florida. It had nothing to do with coaching.

Well we know how UGa fans are after a loss, so I think we are good.

Recruiting an enormous part of a college coach's job. Arguably the biggest part.

Mullen is fine and has the team headed in the right direction and most Gator fans recognize the limitations this team has, due primarily to an out-manned O-line and lack of depth across the board. Unless the Gators are upset in the next 3 weeks they will finish 10-2, if they get a bowl win 11-2. Any Gator fan that isn't happy with that result in Dan's second year should just STFU and find another team to pull for. Just 2 years ago UF was 4-8! Negativity from Gator fans is far worse than criticism from rival fans and does more to hurt the program. Good win by UG on Saturday but Mullen is a good enough coach to get us back to winning championships if the Negagators allow him to do so.

Georgia won the game in the trenches, on both sides of the ball. Fromm had time to go through his progressions and pick up 1st downs and keep drives alive (12/16), while Florida couldn't get any pressure on the ball, nor could they sustain drives in crucial times to put pressure back on Georgia.

Exactly right Monty.. this is why he was so good at MSU. UF is a different animal. When ya look at their classes around top 10-15 under him that’s probably not good enough with Bama UGA LSU all consistently top 5ish. But with Miami and FSU down if he can capitalize and land just one or two top 5 classes watch out. Imo I don’t see it happening. He will win 9-10 a year but I don’t see him making the playoffs anytime soon.

I agree totally. Criticism was directed at his weak presser comments.

Yep, mainly in the mental department.

If you had 247 back in the 90s I bet the top 10 from Florida every year would be nothing but FSU, Florida and Miami and maybe 2 going to Auburn and or Georgia or Bama. Now it is an open season on Florida athletes.

Here we go again.Amazing how fast the "talent gap" excuse/narrative spread AFTER the Gators lost. It's just amazing that I barely heard a peep about this the week leading up to the game.
BTW UF has 2 DL that will get drafted in next springs draft we probably have none or late rounders at best.Their WR group is better along with their TE. Their starting CB's were also better.
Do we have more 5 stars? Obviously but the so called "talent gap" wasn't that far apart at all with the starting 22 and depending on who goes early,UF probably
has more guys drafted next spring.

Totally agree, guy seems like someone who really can't look himself in the mirror. Never once admitted any fault on his own part, just his staff. Looking forward to the mutiny which will likely involve all of his assistants taking their turn with Megan.

No doubt. It’s oftenabout being more alert than the opponent.
