So, I have been keeping up a bit with our QB recruit, regardless of who his dad is...

and this is his record thus far this season.

LINK

Dude is pretty good, and Criswell is as well...

Sad to think his dad sucks so bad as coach.

My point is this... He has the stats and ability for running a good offense as is proven. It isn't the reason to keep what we currently have as coach however.

When in our lifetimes, are we gonna have a great QBack and Coach again? Damn!

We have two elite 11 QBS from Texas on the roster right now.

If that doesn't check all the boxes...

What we need is a 4 star from Arkansas, wait he's a pitcher now.

Sounds a like a coaching problem not a talent problem.

I'm a fan and think hes gonna be a good qb.

with that said I dont see why that has anything to do with his dad employment status.

it's not like we wont still be paying Morris either way. might as well get him a high quality coach.

Indeed.

Hicks has been... there. Not really bad, not really good. Just. There. Which wouldn't be bad but this is a QB based offense.

Starkel has regressed to the point it seems like he just steps back and throws the ball into a general area of the field while hoping for the best.

We have two "elite" QBs who can not find their butts with both hands and a road map. I am sure Chandler will reopen his recruiting once his dad gets the axe but does it really matter if he does or not? Chandler Morris under the current coaching staff probably performs at the same level the last few QBs have done.

Our coaching staff has the anti-Midas touch.

was Hicks and Stark elite 11 backs? IDK....

what I do know is that Morris has proven it for sure.

Again, not a reason to keep Chard, but???

Man, we need change in a bad way. this sucks.

Yes. Hicks was the most highly touted/heralded recruit to sign at SMU since the pony express days.

Look up Hicks and Stark's HS stats. Texas HS football is glorified 7 on 7.

it's a coaching problem for sure. I think morris is an ok coach from x and o perspective he gets it. he recruits and has energy. I think he brought a garbage staff and isn't ready for primetime. he may come back to the league one day and beat our arse with the right team after he connects to some really great coaches

He doesn't really tho.

He has watched Dykes come in and quickly fix his roster's problem and take SMU to higher heights than he was ever going to achieve.

He inherits a roster with the same problem and doesn't realize and never addresses the issue with focus through recruiting.

This is the reason why the QBs have performed better way from him and all the QBs have looked basically the same while playing for him.

Its the O-line. A position coached by a "yes, man", a position that has always been a late scramble to fill with warm bodies by aggychad.

I mean he did see the lack of talent on the roster and blew it up, the problem is the players he replaced them with either aren’t any better or he isn’t coaching them well enough.

We’ll be starting two of his OL recruits this weekend and Stromberg has a bright future but he probably would have signed more than he did if he had the chance at a do-over. Can’t just sign warm bodies just to sign them though. Keeping Crawford committed would have been huge. Desperately need Garrett Hayes and Brady Ward now.

he knows offensive playmakers when he sees them. with that said until he recruits oline he ain't winning shite. clemson's offense actually fixed thst petoblem when he left now thst I think about it.

Sorta reminds me of Casey Dick (when under Petrino)

Morris's stats don't look that bad except for the INT's. He's playing high school games and has 8 picks, second highest on the list. That could be a problem in the future IMHO.

I think 4 of those were from the same game. His completion percentage is really good though.

I’m sure he’s a terrific hs qb but what’s the upside on a 5-10 170 lb that’s had every advantage a qb could have.

Correct.

Look at Auburn when the hired Gus, they've forced him to hire a defensive staff where he remains hands off.

Ok Arkansas got that part.

Arkansas allowed Chad to hire his flunkies for the offensive staff, while Auburn has hired good O-line coaches for Gus, yeah they are over the hill edging for retirement but they know how to coach the position.

Arkansas? Sure you can hired you GA to be Oline coach Chad.

Auburn: Your Mickey Mouse highschool shite isn't working fire your boy and hire a legit OC to run the offense.

Arkansas? Sure you can hire your boy to be the OC Chad.
