The 247 UCLA writer has told Marcello that Allen Greene is a leading candidate for the USC vacant AD job.
From Tracy Pierson; UCLA mod:
Marcello can confirm that Greene was on the west coast last week, but doesn’t know if it was for family or business reasons. Believe I read he has family in Seattle. Just a heads up.

Apparently USC has offered the job to a good number of candidates who have turned it down.
USC, too, is offering a salary that would make the USC athletic director position one of the highest paid in the country.
From what I'm hearing, one of the current leading candidates is Allen Greene, the current athletic director at Auburn. Greene, 42, has only been at Auburn a year, and was the AD at Buffalo for three years previous to that.

USC has had a lot of people turn them down for a reason. Hopefully Greene understands that.

Maybe we could hire the associate AD at UF? What's his name?

How horrible would it be to report to work in Compton everyday?

I like AG but at this point it's really more a promise that he'll grow into the role than it is any level of expertise or experience.
Offer him what's fair and if he walks, he walks. Nothing is happening with Gus this year so that's not really a consideration. I'd prefer to keep him but I don't think it's embarrassing to lose someone to USC nor is he irreplaceable yet.

I like AG a lot, however, his sample size is small. I'm not saying he won't be a superstar AD, he very well could. I'd really hate to do the Auburn thing and saddle the school with an enormous contract with a ridiculous buyout for a guy that still is fairly new with some potential question marks.
Kinda like the whole market-rate debate w/ Gus a few years back, I guess.

Somebody needs to ask Allen Greene if he has watched Training Day... ![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/IconLOL.gif)

Wonder why JJ never interviewed for potential AD jobs at other schools.
