They need time to recover from their hallowed rivalry game with Sewanee last week. Because hey, Sewanee was once really, really good.

Not really, under a normal 12 game schedule, with 1 bye week, most teams set their bye after 6, 7 or 8 games. Alabama has decided that setting it up before LSU, which is always their 9th game (as the case for LSU) rather than Arkansas or Tennessee, (TSIO) even though that is one of their historic rivals like Auburn. So my guess is it is both somewhat a normal part of the schedule and somewhat strategic, the proportion you have to get from rational Bama fans here, there are some like Viceman who always posts relative no troll stuff.
Now, if TENN got back to their 1990's and early 2000 level, maybe they put the bye back before TENN rather than LSU.

Bama has such a long SEC win streak that the rest of the country considers you all as Bye Weeks until the playoffs.
