USA Today produced their annual college coaches salary index today, and guess what 0 conference wins gets you at Arkansas... A $500,000 raise!!
And folks say with a straight face that no one would come to this job!?! How would you not be begging for it... You can actually ruin an entire program an be the worst coach in the country... And you get filthy rich!
But on the bright side, USA contradicts previous reports of a $12 million buyout of he's fired. But that could be after Jan. 1, who knows. That contract drawn up by JCP and APPROVED BY THE BOARD OF Trustees was rated as the 7th worst contract in college football.
I hope every one of the BOT has a subscription....

No. 28 (tie). Chad Morris, Arkansas: $4,000,000. Morris’ total for this season includes a $500,000 payment he received for remaining head coach from Dec. 5, 2017 through Feb. 15, 2019. He would get additional $500,000 payments in February 2021 and February 2023.

Why the school paid so much: Arkansas was in a tough spot after firing Bret Bielema in 2017. After Gus Malzahn rebuffed a big-money offer to stay at Auburn, Arkansas was pretty far down the list of desirable jobs in a year with a lot of coaching changes. Not only did that limit Arkansas’ pool of candidates but it created leverage for someone like Morris, who was making a little more than $2 million a year at SMU and didn't necessarily need to take on a major rebuilding job in the SEC unless he was going to get a huge bump in pay.
Why it’s a bad contract: Plucking a successful coach from a Group of Five program is always a bit of a gamble for a Power Five school because you just don’t know if it will translate. But in Morris’ case, he hadn’t even been particularly successful at SMU with a 14-22 overall record.
Though in fairness the team had improved each year, going 7-5 in his final season there, Morris’ reputation was largely formed due to his work as Clemson’s offensive coordinator. So far, though, it’s been a debacle at Arkansas as he’s 0-12 in the SEC (4-15 overall), has yet to beat a Power Five team and has lost to the likes of North Texas, Colorado State and San Jose State.

This is why they should have let the woman do the firing and let the new AD do the hiring. We wouldn’t have been any worse off by the delay.

They were probably panicking to get a coach in three fast because of recruiting. But it is so beyond stupid to not have your f-ing brand new AD so the biggest hire of his career.
There's so much stupidity in all of this.

So Alabama can afford to pay a coach $12 mill a year but we can afford a one time payment of 10 mill?

Chaggy is making more $$ than Odom.

It's not really a raise, it was structured into his original contract. They're basically just bonuses for still being the coach at the given date, although that's a really stupid idea.
He keeps losing and it'll all take care of itself.

^ this. Does that also bump down his buyout since it was paid out?
