Is incredibly mediocre this year. Literally the best team in Texas is SMU, who hasn’t been ranked since they got the death penalty. Texas sucks, especially on defense, Texas A&M is awful, even the occasional TCU or Texas Tech who can have a random good year are bad. The only other team that has any claim is Baylor and they aren’t very good either. The SEC should be poaching that Big 12 state for recruits in a big way.

The best team in TX is Baylor. Tech lost their QB1 to injury.

It’s always mediocre.
Texas talent is over rated. They do produce good ones but most get out of and ball out for tough programs like Bama and LSU.

There is never a bad time to pick on A&M, but this is directed at the entire state.

That talent hasn't been overrated for us (for decades).
Maybe it's the culture of the state's two largest programs putting an emphasis on arrogance and style over substance and results.

Went to the SMU/Temple game this weekend. Great little stadium, nice tailgate setup, no parking nightmares. Sweet, clean co-eds.

If all the top rated TX high school prospects went to one university in Tx, lets say A&M, how do you think they would fare?

They would be tough no doubt. Texas did it there for a while and were amongst the best in that era....but others were right there.
Still talent overall isn’t what we may think. Mostly Florida talent kept UF, FSU and even Miami elite at the same time for a long time. We just haven’t seen that in Texas ever.
