Tua Tagovailoa underwent an ankle procedure Sunday morning, Alabama head coach Nick Saban announced.
“Tua Tagovailoa suffered a high-ankle sprain last night against Tennessee,” Saban said in a statement. “Our physicians performed a successful tight-rope procedure on his right ankle this morning. This is the same injury, but the opposite ankle that Tua injured last season. Tua will miss next week’s game against Arkansas, but we expect a full and speedy recovery.”
The Crimson Tide starting quarterback left Saturday’s game against Tennessee with an ankle injury and did not return to the field.
Tagovailoa rejoined his teammates in the locker room after the game, and according to outside linebacker Terrell Lewis, the junior quarterback said he will be ready to go for the LSU game.
“He said, ‘I’ll be back for LSU,’” Lewis said. “I know how Tua is. It’s something he’s been through before, so I don’t doubt the fact that he’s a competitor. He’s going to get right back, and he’ll be fine.”
Tagovailoa was 11-of-12 for 155 yards and threw an interception before the ankle injury and was replaced behind center by Mac Jones, who finished the rivalry game 6-of-11 for 72 yards.
Alabama will next host to Arkansas on Saturday, Oct. 26, before its second of two bye weeks.

Was this necessary. All opinions are that this wasn't serious at all. It took him a month to r3cover last year. Jalen had ligament damage so the comparison isn't the same

He played well vs OU 26 days after surgery last year.
I think one of the pros of tightrope surgery is future performance/prevention.

Unlike Jalen who is a true dual threat I think this procedure favors Tua to get back quicker. They will design a game with a lot of quick throws. We may also have the OL positions settled to be able to run clock

LSU's defense can be had. It's not the caliber of past units. This game will be a complete 180 from the 2011 game.

I think it was his right ankle that got injured last night.
For those with knowledge of throwing mechanics, is that a better, worse, or neutral option to be injured for a left handed thrower?

For a left handed thrower, I think you'd rather injure your right ankle than your left.
