This recent CBS series really paints Lsu in a bad light.

quote:

So what are colleges doing with all your extra money? Some of it goes to teaching, of course, but most does not. At LSU, while students enjoy the new lazy river, some of the academic facilities are showing their age.

LSU senior and Student Senate Speaker Pro Tempore Catherine McKinney took Dokoupil on a tour of what she said are her school's questionable priorities.

Dokoupil asked her, "The library is the focal point of the quad, but would you say it's the focal point of school funding?"

"Absolutely not," she said. "I think, if anything, it's kind of been neglected by school funding."

At the library, some of the building was literally falling apart while the school's tuition and fees have doubled in a decade.

Then this comment is made in reference to the lazy river. Someone will have to explain how a lazy river is educational.

quote:

However, it is not accurate to say that LSU has devoted resources to projects not directly related to education. Every project on campus is directly related to education

Hopefully, this new excitement in football will drive more revenue to help the failing academic facilities.

Ah yes, the "we're still smarter than you" smack talk after losing. Reminds me oh so well of the late-Mack era and the entire Charlie era of Texas football.

Congrats on paying $75 million for your new Charlie Strong

Lazy river is what happens when you let 18-22 year olds decide how to spend money.

It was stupid then, it's stupid now.

Has nothing to do with the athletic department

Someone didn’t read anything. This has nothing to do with who’s smarter. This has to do with neglect and wasteful spending.

We should have all went to Blinn and then we could boast about our worthless degree from AggyLand.

And then move to Spring, TX

Starts thread about the importance of academics. Misspells “paints” in OP. You can’t make this stuff up.

Weird melt BTW.

A new library and tearing down Middleton to restore the quad to its original state are in the master plan as of the last time I read anything about this

Hard to argue with an aggy about something you are experts in. 75 million for a lame duck Coach is textbook definition of wasteful spending

Academics, including the libraries, is a never-ending black hole. No amount of money will ever be enough. They should be more concerned with bloated salaries of the LSU administration than what athletics does with its money. Not even one penny is taken from the general fund for athletics.

Because all LSU grads don't want people to know how pathetically worthless their degree actually is

1. LSU isn't going to spend millions and millions of dollars on an old library they plan on demolishing in the next 10-15 years.

2. The lazy river was voted on by the students and funded by an additional fee added to the fee bill.
