this weekend for the UGA-SCar game.
A native Atlantan and Dunwoody High graduate, Seacrest attended UGA majoring in Journalism until he left for the bright lights of Hollywood to pursue his career in broadcasting...believe it or not, Seacrest has an honorary Doctor in Humane Letters from the University of Georgia.
Seacrest has done quite well since leaving Athens...he's reportedly worth almost $500 million. He currently lives in New York City.
Welcome back to the Classic City, Ryan! Go Dawgs!

Judging by your spelling, I doubt you'll be able to figure it out.

It's just an honorary degree.
Say what you want to about Ryan Seacrest (I personally don't care for American Idol or his talk show), but he's a guy that is approaching pop culture icon status and that's a good thing for UGA. It's never a bad thing to have a high profile alumnus supporting the University on the public stage.

yeah I mean I know celebs are given honorary degrees regularly, just never heard of one in "humane letters".

If it isn't a field like science or literature, then that's what the degree is called.

My PhD is in Abusive Haiku.
Not much use commercially.

approaching?? i mean he's a host, so his ceiling is relatively capped compared to A-List actors or pop music icons, but he is right up there in the top 5 hosts of the millenium.
not trying to nit-pick, it'd be interesting to see a ranking. are oprah and ellen in his category? regis? he's not oprah or ellen but he's right up there with anyone else.

Hes the hardest working man in showbusiness for the past decade.
Like him or hate him. You have to admire someone as ambitious and willing to grind as he is. There is a lot to admire about his brand.

L-G-B-T-Q are the "humane letters". All the others are Republicans...

Last fall the wife and I were in Manhattan dining at Loi Estatorio.....Maria Loi the proprietor sees me in my GEORGIA sweatshirt and says “hey I have a friend from Georgia that you may know” and I ask who she says “Ryan Seacrest, he eats here all the time”.
Needless to say i was way under dressed.

Humane letters
Probably what you learned as vowels. Consonants became too aggressive and are now known as the inhumane letters.
