Mauer hasn't looked great in action but we at least scored points when he was in and tbh, I'm tired of looking at JG. JG is far more polished but he's regressed so much this season that he sucks the air out of the entire team whenever he's in. David Ubben posted JGs stats from last year compared to this year and the regression with better protection and playing against FAR worse teams was absolutely unbelievable in terms of numbers.

they should have made that move a game or two ago. Nothing to lose. I read earlier that UT has played almost their entire freshman recruiting class.

If they were smart, they would start Guarantano and then bring in Maurer. Everyone knows we don’t prepare for the backup.

I believe Weinke could be the problem.

Tua and Jalen had bama's talen behind them, only one of two teams that has more talent on paper. Maurer has.......

A lot of people believe so and that could be why he's regressed but I honestly don't know what JG's issue is. Even when he was playing well last year, the things that needed to 'click' just never did with him. It's always been a mental thing with him. He has all the talent in the world but has never had that 'it' factor.

Lamb to a slaughter, but that would have been the case regardless.

Reminds me of Tim Couch's first ever start in the swamp.

Could turn out to be a stud...or could completely break him mentally and ruin him by playing him too early against a team that’s going to slaughter you anyway.

I'm just wondering if UTk fans still feel like they stole Cheeseburger Chaney from UGA?

Wasn’t sure about GA covering. True Freshman QB in first start.

Yeah. Bet laid on Dawgs. Go in dry Kirby.

I am surprised. I was really impressed with him and his toughness in the past. Sorry for the kid.

What’s the percentage of red to orange in Neyland tomorrow?

I was too. He had a good year last year and there was every reason to think he'd either stay the same or improve but for whatever reason he went backwards and in a big way. He's had better protection, wide open WRs, and played substantially easier competition than last season but nothing is clicking for him right now.

He simply no longer sees the field (a classic play for him this season: he throws into triple coverage despite having three wide open WRs that all would've gone for TDs). He's not missing small things that any QB could overlook in the heat of play but big things like that. It's like things being better for him in terms of everything surrounding him has made him worse.

The season is essentially over already. It makes sense to prepare for the future.
