Look, I am not starting this thread to bash anyone for having critical views of coaches, plays, scheme, etc.
I just want to know if you can just enjoy watching football without the need to be overly critical?
I want to win at everything I do. Hell, I was watching girls volleyball today and was very into our girls winning. If they could handle it I think could be pretty vocal. Ha I had to remind myself just to chill and enjoy the play. When I did this I enjoyed the games more.
I’m watching AU play now and I am just enjoying the game and barely paying attention to the mistakes and it’s pretty damn nice. I’m just wondering have we become so focused on dominating that we expect perfection and only can be kind of happy after the game, but remember all the mistakes, errors, and decision making?
I just find it interesting reading the posts of how critical we have become and I say we because I can be overly critical too. I don’t think anyone is immune from doing it. I think some are perpetually in negative mode, but we all get there from time to time.
Sorry so wordy but watching it now just made me think some. Just curious about what you think?

You are asking a lot Rock. How could you expect a fan base who is a custom to winning championships to enjoy a season where their 50 million dollar head coach is running the program in the ground.
Its just hard to watch out there. When a coach is so hardheaded that he will not throw a pass to a Tight end, wont give the 4th string running back the carries he deserves, wont give up on the inside running game when we all know its just wasted downs. He has totally ruined the accuracy of Bo Nix when we all know Bo is the best QB prospect Auburn has had since 1994, runs stupid trick plays and then the goofy fricker eats dinner at Waffle House
Before games he will not give detailed injury reports to deserving fans, cant compete recruiting players against our rivals like Georgia, Alabama and LSU. Makes the games boring and just basically looks stupid. We are use to 10 win seasons and we should move on from the Gus project and start accepting applications for our next head coach who will certainly get us back to our championship ways...
So I ask you, how the hell could you enjoy watching that train wreck?

Wow.... well, there’s not a whole lot more to add after that. Nice summary of how I feel Lanier.
I guess the only thing that I would add is that an SEC coach in his 7th year, who is one of the highest paid in the county, should not have constant glaring gaps in the personnel.
Especially, something as critical as O-Line. And how have we gone so far backwards in something as fundamental as kickoff and punt coverage?
Its just frustrating. We expect more and we should be expecting more.

There is a direct correlation to intelligence/success and the amount of time...or lack there of...someone spends on the internet. :) I'd take the nonsense on here with a grain of salt, it's an online message board.
We aren't a great team, but we could be a good team if we clean up a few things. If we have some luck great isn't out of the question.
The DL is going to cause issues for everyone. The DB's and LB's aren't perfect but they are talented.
The O has problems, but Bo has those intangibles we have long for the last several seasons. Joey also will be an effective weapon this year for us.

Just stopping in to see what all the snowflakes are melting about with this game. If you can’t enjoy games like that, just go support the other team in the state.

I think we should start turning our focus to the real issue that's gonna tear the fanbase apart: Nix vs. Gatewood, the QB controversy.

I enjoyed 3 old fashioneds yesterday during the first half and some change and a banana pudding smoothie in the 4th quarter. Twas a very enjoyable game.

It's always more enjoyable to watch a game when you already know there is a positive outcome!

Agreed. I’m not as concerned about our ST woes as I am about our OL. If the OL gets shored up and gets the job done, we are going to be fine. If not, the season is going to suck, and that will fall on Gus’s shoulders.
Too many years now we have been deficient at a position to achieve our goals. Which I don’t understand how that’s the case given he’s already signed over a handful of recruiting classes. We usually use sign 22ish HS recruits and grab a couple juco/GTs every year, so it shouldn’t be that hard to form a well rounded team with less obvious issues?
Maybe someone can explain why Gus needed to put off OL recruiting until the point of needing to sign 7 or 8 in one year. I could maybe understand why we were having these issues with a new, defensive minded coach, but not from an offensive minded coach that has made millions off of great OLs. Mind blowing.
Deficiencies:
2014: Overall defense ( not his fault yet)
2015: QB Quality among others
2016: QB Quality/ depth
2017: RB depth
2018: OL depth, pass rusher
2019: OL depth
2020: OL quality???

Using the clowns (me included) on the SECr as a measuring stick is a bad idea. We certainly don’t represent your average fan. My wife loves it when we win and hates it when we lose, but she couldn’t tell you about the depth problems at OL, the QB question with this offense, the lack of a true speed rusher, etc, etc, etc. She just wants to cook out and watch Auburn win.

Obviously Lanier is trolling but the fact is Gus did a lot of what people were asking yesterday. So yeah, it was way more fun than the Tulane game. A bad opponent doesn't hurt, of course.
The huge majority of Auburn people are going to respond favorably to yesterday's game, even though it may not tell us too much. The amount of people who are just constantly negative or unnecessarily critical is overblown on here and elsewhere. I enjoy reading criticism if it's fair and at least modestly informed. Part of being a fan, IMO.

Always making bait. You are the consummate fisherman.

Yeah, you’re right, I get I knew the outcome, but I can also hate an outcome and still say it was a hell of a game.

I know we are a different animal coming on the board sometimes. I was just curious is all.

Those are all fair and need to be addressed.
Here’s my critical thinking on one of your points. I think top OL who want to go to the NFL think our system is not generating enough NFL picks. Perception or truth? Or is it somewhere in between? However, it doesn’t answer why we waited jumping on some?

Yes, because I don’t go into seasons expecting us to win 12 games every season and I don’t give two shits about the coaches’ salary if its not detrimentally effecting the program. We won’t and it doesn’t so I have fun watching.

I enjoy watching football!
Not to get off on too much of a tangent here, but when you learn you are a lot closer to the finish line, it is important to really start to appreciate what you have.
WE won. That is awesome. Enjoy it today.
Be happy for the kids who played. For the youngsters in the crowd who were excited to be there.
Take a moment to appreciate the other team, like the player who is still on the field despite how sick he was just a few years ago.
If an Auburn fan does not like the roller coaster, i am sure there are other venues that provide the Ferris Wheel. And there is nothing wrong with that.

Exactly. Be a fan of College football/sports too. #4 for Kent state was impressive. He was not intimidated and knew he belonged on the field. Dixon’s story was a good one and he is a solid receiver.
We crushed Kent St but their players gave everything and played hard. Gave our guys some fits. Was fun to watch.
