So, baseball?

Either way the answer is Tennessee.

Worst SEC school to be a fan since 2000

f we're looking at strictly football, it has to be UT

I get your "relative expectations" premise. UT has had a good history of football prior to 2000. Still, that window of time hasn't been all terrible.

AP Finish:
2000 - 25
2001 - 4
2003 - 15
2004 - 13
2006 - 25
2007 - 12
2015 - 22
2016 - 22

They are 7-6 in bowl games, and have won 2 Division Championships during that period. Sure...by UT standards it is down...but there are plenty of SEC teams that haven't approached that kind of success over this same time period.

Vandy is 3-3 in bowls during that period (where they had only been to 3 bowls in the history of the program beforehand)...so that does point to your "relative success" model. UT is 13-6 vs Vanderbilt during this period.

Kentucky is 4-4 in bowls during that period (where they had only been to 10 bowls in the history of the program beforehand)...see above. Tennessee is 17-2 vs Kentucky during this period.

There is plenty of misery to go around.

ETA...yeah...after reading my post...it has been UT.

From 2000-2007 Alabama had to be in the top 3-4.

Well, you might be ahead of Ole Miss/USC/MSU in total athletics during that time.

Easily Ole Miss.

Cutcliff gets hopes up in early 2000s. Crushed.

Orgeron recruits well, and sets up for Houston Nutt's arrival. Crushed.

Hugh Freeze looks like he's got them on the upswing again. Crushed.

And towards the end of each of these coaching regimes, expectations for the next hire were sky high. 2 years ago in Oxford I sat next to a red-slacks wearing kid who was sure Mike Leach would be the next coach. Crushed.

I don’t think I’d say Kentucky since their fanbase doesn’t really give a shite

Same with Vandy

Vandy has won a couple of World Series in baseball. Ole Miss should replace Vandy

All of this. And you didn’t even mention basketball and, *shudder*, baseball.

If there is anyone more miserable than me I want to meet you so I can fight you for being a liar.

Both been ranked #1 since last time TN was

ETA: Arkansas May not have been #1, but were top 3 for sure

we're talking about an 18 year period, a team doing something "more recent" than another is irrelevant here.

A&M. The poster boys of inferiority complex.

They have seen LSU and Texas combine for 3 National Championships and play for 2 more in that span. They haven't done jack shite.

They actually had one pretty good team (2012), and LSU kicked their arse in their own stadium. That makes them really angry.

In football certainly Tennessee.

If you are talking Football, Basketball and Baseball it's Tennessee.
