P5 vs G5; gap narrowing?

It might just be me, or just favorable matchups for G5 schools this year, but it seems like the gap has narrowed just a bit. So I looked at the numbers.
Thus far the G5 has a 10-38 record against P5 schools. In 2017 the G5 had 15 wins over P5 schools, and in 2018 the G5 had 16 wins over P5 schools. To be fair, the large majority of the G5 vs P5 matchups take place in the first 1/3 to 1/2 of the football season, so you can't extrapolate those 10 wins over an entire season. However, I wouldn't be surprised to see the G5 hit 20 wins over P5 schools this year. Also, record is not everything(once again, it may just be me), even in P5 victories, it seems like the games this year have been much more competitive, atleast on the scoreboard.
Now when you dive into that G5 10-38 record against P5 schools, its glaringly obvious that there shouldn't be a G5, but probably a G2 or G3.
G5 vs P5--------------> (10-38)
MWC vs P5-------------> (6-5)
AAC vs P5-------------> (2-8)
Sun Belt vs P5--------> (2-5)
"D3"(decent 3) vs P5--> (10-18)
CUSA vs P5------------> (0-8)
MAC vs P5-------------> (0-12)
"S2"(shitty 2) vs P5--> (0-20)
Look into the shitty 2 just a little deeper and look at their combined record against FBS schools and you will realize just how shitty they are.
CUSA vs FBS-----------> (2-14)
MAC vs FBS------------> (1-13)
"S2" vs FBS-----------> (3-27)
compared to the "D3"
MWC vs FBS------------> (8-7)
AAC vs FBS------------> (7-8)
Sun-Belt vs FBS-------> (5-8)
"D3" vs FBS-----------> (20-23)
Compared to the P5
SEC vs FBS------------> (13-7)
B12 vs FBS------------> (6-3)
ACC vs FBS------------> (10-5)
B10 vs FBS------------> (18-3)
P10 vs FBS------------> (9-6)
P5 vs FBS-------------> (56-24)
So there seems to be 3 divisions to me. P5, then D3, then S2. I think there is some potential here to make things fun. G5 wants a chance at the playoff, well give it to them. Take the top 2 ranked G5 schools(or maybe just D3, MWC, AAC, & Sun Belt), have them play each other in the week after Conference championships for a play in game vs the #4 team in the CFP, the week before the first week of the playoffs.

No. We just notice it more because teams like Michigan are highly ranked every year and the cracks are showing.

Boise and UCF alone would beat the shite out of 92% of all P5 teams. And UCF would beat the shite out of Boise.

As long as population continues to rise.

CUSA and MAC are so awful, bump them down a division below the MWC, AAC and Sun-Belt, and then bump up the top 3-4 FCS conferences like the Big Sky, Ohio Valley, CAA, and Southern(these conferences are consistently competitive with the shitty 2). Then let these 6-7 conferences have their own playoff.

Yeah this is pushing it just a bit. One, that number is way too high, I'd say it should be more like 50%, and two, they wouldn't beat the "shite" out of that 50", I'd say probably more like 10%.

The top of the G5 is pushing ahead of some lower tier P5s in terms of not just field a better team for a season, but being overall better and more prestigious programs. Schools like UCF, Memphis and Houston are spending money, hiring great staffs and are recruiting better than several mid and lower tier P5 schools.
These teams are certainly capable of beating better programs with more money, and they do. But they aren’t capable of competing consistently with upper-tier teams. UCF fans will tell you otherwise, but they are wrong. But these kind of teams will continue to beat mid and lower P5s regularly and upper tier teams occasionally.

I'll give UCF the credit that they would beat the bottom half of the P5 conferences at a pretty good rate (I.e., the Stanfords, Pitts, etc.)
But the top half?
UCF would barely win any of those.

There are two things that are going to further affect this:
1) The new transfer rules are only going to help the G5's, blurring the LARGE differences in talent that exist between the haves and have nots. You won't find a talented kid simply disappear on a depth chart of a top 25 team anymore - he'll have the chance graduate early and move on to another program, eager to play, and possibly more mature and focused. Some will be headcases, yeah, but some won't.
2) The new 4-game redshirt rule will give them another year to do it.
There is more room for G5 programs in the top 25, no reason that some of them can't push their way in, if their programs can pull their act together and produce a winner.

I think the top 5-7 super teams in the P5 have separated themselves and the rest of the P5 has fallen back and those P5 teams are on par with the better G5 schools. Its why the playoff will have basically the same teams this year as every other year, and why the better G5 teams beating P5 schools is not that big of a deal anymore.
