someone needs to take the ol gray mare Kornblut out to pasture and put her down once and for all. she's clearly contracted terminal tabloidism and it's affected her judgement on what's journalism and what's sensationalism.
as for Belk, hopefully he gets the professional help he needs for his issues - and the medical attention for his back.
Will Muschamp just moved Kiel Pollard into a coaching position after he was physically no longer able to play football and allowed to continue his education at USC, graduating this December.

Imagine the glee when taters wake up to this. Just checked tnet and it was posted 3 hrs ago but apparently nobody has really seen it yet over there bc of the time. I guess they're pretending to have jobs and so they went to bed early.
Better than Christmas morning and winning a title combined for them when they find this out.

People don't seem to understand that a scholarship is not a gift to go to school. There are certain expectations that go along with it.

I’m fine if he did
Considering the kid probably never went to treatment etc

“I got to the point where it is like ain’t even no point in me staying here, my scholarship is going to be taken away,” Belk said in the video that was taped with him sitting in the back seat of a car. “At that point, I just came home. It was kind of dirty on that end. When you’re on scholarship, I feel like you should have an option to stay. At that point, I was like they just wanted me for football. It’s a business, so I understood that.”

This really annoys me when people say this shite
It’s literally like this everywhere
In every field.

I actually hate that we did this

I don't believe a word he says.

Did what? He got injured, so you have to report to the training room fo rtreatment to get better. He didnt go, which is the same as not showing up for work.
Dude had issues and quit 3 different teams in a year. He doesnt need to be a storyline anymore
Also, we just had a player with an injured back quit, and muschamp made him a coach. If you think he would pull a scholly for an injury youre just an idiot.

I Responded to the post that was linked
We give kids 4 year scholarships not one year scholarships that have to be renewed every year
Unless that’s wrong what came up when I clicked the link
I’m not a fan of that, nothing to do with the Belk story (where I stared earlier in the thread I’m fine with muschamp pulling it if he did)

I believe you are correct. I remember not being a fan of the unconditional scholarship. But in this case i think it more or less says that Belk was never in danger of losing the scholly.

Yeah I also think this is bullshite. First off, was Belk's injury career-ending, or was it just an injury that would heal, and he could still play?
If it was career-ending, then why did he just walk? Other FB players had career-ending injuries (Tavyn Jackson, Max Ilyama, etc.) and got medical hardship waivers. They will get their college degrees, although I believe Jackson felt he could still play FB elsewhere, and chose to seek playing opportunities at another college. So he gave up his free degree.
But why just walk? Belk was a highly regarded prep prospect, at a position where USC staff is trying very hard to improve depth. Muschamp would tell Belk to go away? Just take his scholarship?? Not try to rehab the injury (if it was NOT career-ending), and come back healed and ready to go for 2019?? Yeah, that makes a ton of sense.
And why did Belk just walk away? He got a lawyer to help him get his release from Clemson. IMO, if what Belk is saying is true about Muschamp, then he has a better case against us than what he had against Clemson. But he doesn't get a lawyer, and just walks away?? Walks away from a year's red-shirt (he was eligible for one as a true freshman) to rehab and get ready for 2019, or from a medical hardship scholarship if the injury was career ending??
That's walk away from a) a free education, for some football, or b) a free education, for nothing.
There are kids who redshirt and heal up just to keep playing. Kids who transfer to smaller programs to get the chance to keep playing. Even kids who walk on to programs, all just to keep playing. The love to play football, and do whatever they need to to keep playing.
Belk just walked away from it all. What he's saying now, is total bullshite. He is fat and lazy, and doesn't really want to play football, and doesn't want to put in the effort and work necessary. He just wanted a free education for doing absolutely nothing.....

Whether it's a 1-year scholarship or a full 4-yr scholarship, we don't pull scholarships from football players due to getting injured while participating in the sport they got the scholarship for.
That would be a colossal public relations fiasco, and possibly would set the university up for some major lawsuits. College programs already look bad for pulling committed-to offers from prospects who get injured playing high school football, as it is.....

But if the kid gets hurt and never does anything that we offer with rehab etc.
Would it be okay to pull it?
ETA : also, injuries aside I don’t like it
Say we recruit a kid who just ends up being shite
We can tell him to transfer but he doesn’t want to
He does everything we ask of him off the field (grades, practice etc) but just isn’t good
Does that mean we can’t do anything because he signed a 4 year scholarship?

Yes. We can't pull a scholarship from a kid that gets injured, and cannot play due to that injury, that was suffered while playing/practicing football for South Carolina. That would be program-killing. As long as that kid does everything the staff asks him to do, and he follows instructions and medical guidance.
And it would be totally unnecessary to do that anyways, because if the kid rehabs but is determined that he cannot play FB anymore, we just give him a medical hardship, and the kid still keeps the full scholarship and gets his free education, but the FB program isn't docked a playing scholarship from it's total of 85, so it's a win-win for both the player and the program....
But if the injury isn't career-ending. If it's just a season-ending thing, and the staff gives a player a regimen of rehab, conditioning, physical therapy to heal that injury and get the player back as healthy and able to resume playing, as fast as we can, and the player ignores the guidance and doesn't want to engage. That's like giving a player a scholarship to play football, and the player doesn't want to practice, doesn't want to learn the playbook, doesn't want to go to class, doesn't want to do any of the things he's required to do in order to keep that scholarship.
In those cases, South Carolina isn't handcuffed into wasting a 4-year, or even a 1-yr. scholarship on a kid that doesn't want to carry his end, for no reason other than he just doesn't want to. An injury prevents him from engaging, but if the kid is just lazy and uncooperative, you bet that scholarship can be pulled from him.
Just like if the kid goes and rapes some college girl - USC isn't forced to honor that scholarship, because it gave it to the kid before the rape....

Yes I know that
What about a kid that just doesn’t get hurt and is bad
Does everyone get a 4 year deal? Or just select few?
Say we sign some RB. His freshman year we realize we messed up the evaluation
He’s just not good. And every year as he gets older he still just isn’t good and can’t beat anyone on the depth chart.
BUT, he’s a good kid, goes to class, goes to practice, does what we ask him. But every year he gets older a new kid that comes in is better than him and beats him out.
It’s going into his senior year and he’s 5th on the depth chart and we have some high 4 star (maybe even a 5.. but lol yea i know) coming in which would probably push him back further .
And he just loves being here, what can we do?
