Anyone feel differently now about the Miami game?

(WE ARE NOT DISCUSSING FELEIPE FRANKS IN THIS THREAD.)

So much sloppiness everywhere in Week 1. The Notre Dame-Louisville game last night was almost as comedic with turnovers as the Miami-UF game.

A lot of the mistakes are correctable, particularly false starts, missed assignments, tackling, etc...

Honestly, I'm thinking, despite how sloppily UF played, it was no different than many other teams in the country.

Michigan and Texas, both ranked in the Top 10, did not play well at ALL, yet no one is really talking about them.

Playing in Week 0 is a huge boost for recruiting and publicity, but it certainly opens the door for extensive criticism.

We will be fine, including Franks. Sloppiness was the trend across all week 1 games, just ask FSU, Tenn, U of SC and Mizzou, it could have been worse!!!

The game was rough, but a win is a win. I moved on the second it was over. 1-0 by 35-0 is the same as 1-0 24-20 in the grand scheme of things.

I was really not worried with the rest of the team. Our defense caused a ton of fumbles and only gassed when the offense didn't stay on the field. Grantham seems to call the first drive very soft, but after that the adjustments were really good.

Only thing we have to fix are the first downs and that's about it. Defense will be better with our starting safety coming back into the mix and Miller will likely take over for Burney while Burney keeps moving around.

Honestly it's not like we looked like we couldn't function the offense. We just made boneheaded mistakes a few times. Something we didn't do a ton of last year so not to worried it will be a continued thing.

As for defense...tackling was mainly on the defensive backs. Henderson, Dean, Wilson suddenly completely forgot how to tackle. I'll assume they can fix this.

I think we will be fine.

I think there was a bit of an overreaction from everyone. We normally have an ugly game like that early in the season:

2018: week 2 loss against UK
2017: week 1 loss against Michigan
2016: week 1 struggle against UMASS, leading only 10-7 at the half
2015: week 2 struggle against ECU.

If we see the same mistakes next game I’ll be concerned.

I still don't know what to think.

But am happy to be chewing on this at 1-0 instead of 0-1.

My opinion of the team hasn’t changed much . I thought we would be 9-3 this year before the game but I am thinking 8-4 is more likely now. Most of our issues CSM be fixed before we play Kentucky. We just need to improve every week and we will be fine .

I predicted 9-3 and I would like to downgrade that to 8-4. If we can't run the ball every game is going to be a struggle. I was hoping our OL wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be and I think was sadly right in that prediction. Franks and the RB's are in for a long season I am afraid.

But, this is just a game one reaction. Miami's front 7 could be one of the best in the country and we can possibly do much better going forward. I reserve the right to be optimistic after the UT Martin game.

I think more people watched us because it was the only game on, therefore more analyzation. I didn’t see either one of those other 2 games. Hopefully Mullen has settled down the acting out this week and we will get some W’s.
