Could we see Chris Allen in that spot?
How did we get so damn thin at LBer?? Why have we missed so many players?? We use to own that position recruiting

I mean, this isn't new. We're actually probably better stocked now at ILB than we were the last 2 years, but they are all just freshman/transfers (Harris, Lee, Kaho). We needed another year...........we won't get it.

This sucks and sucks bad.

Does this suck? Absolutely. Will it be frustrating to watch sometimes? Sure. Am I sad for Moses? Without a doubt.
But its quite obvious to me that we can beat any team in the nation on any given day with our offense, and the other guys on defense. To say that this is a "death blow" is quite laughable. Injuries happen. Sucks that we've had so many the last few years, but come on guys, take a deep breath. Can't change the past, so no use in worrying about it.

This sucks, and it does deal a blow to the defense.
However, to be the voice of reason, this doesn't ruin the season. We have talented guys who will make a lot of mistakes, but they're gonna grow and by the time we get to games we could actually lose maybe they'll be good enough to be solid.
And there's like, 2-4 teams that can even hang with Tua on a good day so even if the D struggles because of inexperienced guys at ILB, Tua can outscore anyone.

Chris Allen will probably be working inside today if I had to guess. He seems like the one most likely to make the switch from the group of OLB's. We'll absolutely have to move one of them and he cross trained there a little last year if i'm not mistaken

Our goal is to win the national title. We can win any game on any given day, yea, but this injury drops the odds of doing that on EVERY day significantly. And, fair or not, that is our goal.
The saving grace is the time period, but I mean it's objectively very bad.

And it's been happening with increasing frequency over the last two years. There's no excuse for half the defensive roster to be on the IR list year in and year out.
What’s your answer then? We sell Alabama as a place where the best come to COMPETE for a starting job. You can’t find out who the best are without full speed contact drills and scrimmages. Say what you will about Pat Dye, but he learned from Bear Bryant about discovering who your players are in PRACTICE. This is a direct quote from him on a Huntsville radio station a few years back. “You worry about injuries, you not going to get much done. You can’t learn to play football without contact.”
Bryant: “If a man is a quitter, I’d rather find out in practice than in a game. I ask for all a player has so I’ll know later what I can expect.”

Alabama LB Dylan Moses expected to miss season with injury (BamaOnLine)
quote:
Alabama junior linebacker Dylan Moses suffered a severe injury just before the season.
A preseason All-American, Moses sustained a severe knee injury during Tuesday’s practice session and is expected to miss the upcoming 2019 college football season, BamaOnLine has confirmed.
Alabama’s starting Will linebacker in its base and nickel defenses last season, Moses recorded a team-high 86 tackles, including 10 tackles for loss (-41 yards) and 3.5 sacks (-29 yards), while adding one pass breakup, one forced fumble and one quarterback pressure to his sophomore totals.
Moses earned second-team All-America recognition from the Walter Camp Football Foundation and was selected as an All-SEC second-team honoree by the league coaches. He was also one of the finalists for the Butkus Award, presented annually to the nation’s top linebacker. Entering his junior year, he was set to take over as the Tide’s defensive signal-caller at Mike linebacker.
This news means Alabama has lost its two most-experienced inside linebackers. Redshirt senior Joshua McMillon suffered a knee injury during the team’s first preseason scrimmage and is out indefinitely. Also out indefinitely is freshman running back and former 5-star Trey Sanders (foot).
True freshman Christian Harris is expected to start at Will linebacker in the season opener, but with Moses’ injury, the Crimson Tide could start two true freshmen in the middle of its defense as Shane Lee has consistently played with the second-team defense. Other names to watch at inside ‘backer are redshirt sophomore Markail Benton and sophomores Jaylen Moody and Ale Kaho.
Alabama will kick off the 2019 season on Saturday, Aug. 31, against Duke in Atlanta.
